A) Dont know how Jesus got into it.
B) 11500 hits, they are not all mine, someone is taking peaks, and the line has not change, so they know what to expect.
C) I sure do clutter up this ONE and only ONE thread, thats for sure. So lets take a look at this clutter, for the past few week after the pissing match with the USSA-Guy, I clutter in only ONE thread, in AN OFF TOPIC forum in a primarily GOLD Bullion web cite. ONE THREAD IN OFF TOPIC, does not seem like cultter to me. I can not believe, really, that ITS THE CLUTTER that you object too. Hmm, DISTRACTION, I suppose if others are reading it, its distracts from the main focus of the web page. That may be legit, but not clutter, not buying that one. So, Distraction of Views seem the real the objection. eh?
D) Is it really that objectionable? Maybe you want to think about why it is objectionable to you, and articate precisely why, and I am curious.
E) I post many comments in each post by edit, so as to minimize the number of new POSTS, to minimize the "distration", for those who are distracted, doing all I can to minimize the foot print, telling a world story, and why, and why I am rocking this world.
F) Whenever you log out, the icon of new post is removed, and with the multiple edits per post, it seems that even the new post icon is limited in occurence.
G) Otherwise, in total, its a comprehensive analysis of our world, and I think of value, maybe not to most in here, but many around the world, for what its worth, and to an extent bring attention in my own way to GATA and the cafe.
H) Many in here have accused me of bing an idiot, yet those of my political orientation, cant get enough of it.
I) Bullion is related to geopolitics, war and culture, and hence this provide a relation of bullion to other related forces going on, for the perspective.
J) And you are correct, its a blog of sorts, but I check in here regularly and is convenient.
K) Today, I was told I should go work for the state department, and solve world problems, and I suppose, the solutions I see, and direction we are headed in of value, as the thread makes regular predicions, that are on the MONEY 85% of the time, which aint all that bad, and maybe others would like to know.
L) Not only have I been rudely abused in this cafe, obsenely so, but others having less confidence have been run out here not willing to put up with the left dog pile. I recall the first time I joined, and was absolute savaged, because of my right leaning views, and maybe its good that I am here to make sure that other of less confidence dont get unfairly savaged for having a right-0F-center view, or a belief in god, or what ever, and maybe being a watch dog of sorts is of value, so that not only ALL are welcomed, but that, the lefties learn a little tolerance of opposing views.
M) Only a few though have indicated that they want me to keep it coming, so, some want to here it, and some obviously dont.
N) Damn, dont screw with lawyers, eh?

The Pump Machine
An American Hero? Barry Bonds pumped it up on steroids, got the cheers from the adoring fans for years. Now, he is in disgrace facing perjury charges, because he lied about it, now having a suspect record with an asterisk. There are many others as well, who rode the pump machine, lied about it, to the cheers of the adoring crowds, but later fell from grace in disgrace. Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson, and American track and field superstar Marion Jones who also lied about it, are a couple of other stand outs, but there are a countless number of them. The crowds wildly cheered, and looked the other way, as Barry doubled in size his weight, and the rumors and whispers circulated in the underground press, by those who were really in the know, but those rumors and whispers were ignored by the adoring crowds and cheer leaders getting vicariously rich off of the fraud. The roaring cheer leading culture would not stand for it as the hue-and-cry is JUST WIN BABY! Its sick for sure, but this culture of cheat and lie on the pump machine transcends many other areas of our lives as well. Of course, there are many deserving of the rich laurels, but who are denied the same by those who lie while on the pump machine.
Today, on planet wall street, the cry is just win baby, such as, CNBC's James Cramer rants to just win baby, screeching for a Fed rate cut as the pump machine of choice to pump up the big boards on the DOW. Bill Gross, manager of PIMCO, the world largest Bond trader, has also called for short term rate cuts, as part of the financial pump machine. The Plunge Protection Machine (PPT) is one of the financial cheer leaders that is out in force, as the DOW muscles expand unnaturally so. Any time, the FEDs are more than willing to inject funds, cut rates, and authorize the hiding of losses, to keep the pump machine going. But you know, here and there are the soft rumors, the whispers from the underground, from such organizations like GATA trying to spread the word of the pump machines in the financial world, that is hurting honest money folks with gold and silver, their only store of real value, to protect themselves form the soup lines in the years ahead. And here to, those honest folks are also big losers, not getting their full measure of rich reward for holding on dearly to real gold and silver coins and bars, as the price of their metal is capped, smacked down, and limited in prices, unnaturally so, not according to the free market forces, but by the unlimited use of the pump machine using bank gold swaps and sales, and, naked short positions, as they hide it and lie about it. There is a difference, though, between sports and markets, in sports, if you get caught, you loose your fame and your laurels and may end up in jail for lying about it, in the financial market, they don’t loose anything, as the FEDs can pump pump pump in perpetuity under governmental immunity, as the king can do no wrong, in limiting the value of real money gold and silver while inflating the financial markets, while they lie about doing it, and try to hush up those rumors and whispers of truth, while addicted to the pump machine.

OK, lets analyize the probability that derelict GOT THE SYRIANS TO THE PEACE TALBLE. What facts do we know. Syrians would not go to the peace conference because the Golan was not up for discussion. (so say the news, its all I got) OK, we know CONDI (my sweetheart) was in there pitching the conference, and I have to beleive she wanted the Syrians in there to, (presumption). That makes sense, why else would the Syrians refuse if 1) were asked to attend, and 2) the Golan was not up for grabs? But only Isreal can put the Golan in play, so Condi was inviting and the Israelies were refusing to put the Golan on the table. OK, for some reason unbeknownst to me Olmert did not put the Golan up for grabs. MY best guess is that it would hurt him politically in Isreal (This is the best I can do, he was damaged by the war in south lebanon) OK, but no dobut IT WAS TOUCH AND GO. Here comes derelict with the "Olmert is a chicken, wont do it, and with the demand THAT HE PUT THE GOLAN up for grabs, and this is pumped to US major media. OK, now Isreal must maintain US support (they get military/financial support from the US) and that means support from average USA folks, and here, Olmert is getting a read on Average joe's position, its logical, it follows, and I call him out on it. Now, I am NOT dictating Isreal foreign policy, but maybe, just maybe that email, with the bait and demand, was enough to TIP THE SCALES and get Olmert to move. IT FOLLOWS!!! In the global confluence, it was first predicted that China would sell-out north korea and force compliant to IAEA requirement, in exchange for Tiwaun. Tipae is split of course, between those who want to be integrated and those who dont, but one thing is sure, they love democracy, and upon integration in the out years, this will be yet another (Hong Kong Like) infusion of democracy loving people into the mainland. China should not move to fast to democracy, though. Such a drastic move at this time would create absolute chaous in China, with Tibetin and Muslim factions vieing for separation and futher independence. The Tienemen Square jerks were to far early in time, and used the wrong tactic with the totalitarians in power. Their in your face demands for democracy now, was the wrong move, though, you have to respect their courage. What China should do, is start to move, very slowly toward democracy, slow but sure, to allow time for the people to learn the democracy culture. Its a tuff thing to learn, that in your face protest and demonstration, and political mud slinging, the cherished hall marks of a robust democracy. China should start with local city elections and let that run for a decade. China should start to move toward free speech and press, slowly but surely, a problem Razputin is having in Russia. Then move to regional government elections. And then finally to a shift of the national government, for ease of transistion, without societal collapse or chaous. The chinese are smart and industrial folks, but they can not stop the free flow of information. Just like Russia, media controls are rediculous in this information age. And hence, my advise to the Chinese would be to get your totalitarian gang together, realize where they must go, and prepare for it, and lay out the game plan for all of china to see, the slow go moves, in this way, they further reduce the probabilities of rebellion, discourse, and chaous, and lay it out for a 15-25 year time line, and in that time line, indicate how democracy will vertically move up the government politiboros power positions, and when Tiwaun should be integrated, consistent with Tiwaunese love for democracy, and in this way, make the transistion as smooth as possible. If they dont, they are going to have one hell of a problem on their hands, as no one or no thing or no organization can control 1.6 billion people bent on having FREEDOM!! China had better wise up, and see it coming, as it most certainly will. Under no circumstances should china be divided up under rebellion and public definance, as that would lead to mass killings throughout china, and destroy world economies as china is simple too big a world player. The US and the CORE have a vested interest in keeping china civil and whole, but should encourage the time line to democracy in staggered steps, THE SMART PLAY.

Lets go out on limb here, but would like to give the post Iran senario. Things are improving in Afghanistan, slow but sure, its a tough fight, but victory over the war-lords Drug-peddlers, Taliban remenence, and Al Quida influences there is invetiable. As Iraq quiets down, and after Iran is taken down, the move would be to Afghanistan in force, and then into W. Pakkieland. The day you see US CAV flags flying over a town in W. Pakkieland, is the day, you will know for sure the war on terror has ended, as that is the end game. It started with Bin laden and it will end with Bin laden.
The pakkie government is on the edge, many unsatisfied wahabie types there pose the threat, and are independent in the w. pakkiland highlands. Musharrif is stressed out over the two-front war with the democrats and the wahabies, he gots problems, and I dont suspect will move all out and vigorously as the US had hoped, as he tries to keep a lid on things, just barely getting by, as it is. So Uncle Sam will proabably finish the job. Good old Uncle Sam, always ready for the NOBLE FIGHT against terror, you bet, its in our blood, we dont like to coward to anyone, well, at least most of us. The US in Pakistan, what? The US would never invade a foreign country, right? Remember the BUSH DOCTRINE, you harbor terrorist and we will go in invited or not and take them down. The pretense of US not going into there is purely to temporarily sedate the locals, a holding action, while Iraq is cleaned out. US military planners ARE THE BEST IN THE WORLD, from my perspective.
So, the route has been, get the Pakkies on line (mostly a holding action securing the east Iran flank), take down taliban in Afghanistan (mostly a holding action on the northern Iranian flank), take down Saddam Iraq (this is serious warfare, resulting in an isolation of IRAN the heart of militant Islam on the Iranian western flank, as Iran is trying to pump arms to Hamas, Hezbollah, Taliban and Al Quida in surrounding areas while trying to build a BOMB), defeat Al Quida in Iraq (just completed in effect), GO FOR THE THROAT IRAN (the pressure is building, just a matter of time), defeat taliban remenence in Afghanistan (clean it out finally along with the drug lords), and then defeat Al Quida remenence in Pakkieland (clean it out, with US forces going in to Pakkieland, and shoot that bastard Bin Laden). You must defeat on their home turf, or they will just come back. Punish them so hard, that none will support them. Bury Them. Slaughter Them, if necessary.
GAME OVER, WAR ON TERROR OVER, the WORLD WINS!! say by 2010.

Not content to wait for my book to come out, Senate Democrats are demanding a censure resolution against Rush Limbaugh. Ah, the memories ...
In my experience, having prominent Democrats censure you on the Senate floor is the equivalent of 50 book signings. Or being put on the cover of The New York Times magazine 20 years ago when people still read The New York Times magazine. They should rename Senate censure resolutions "Harry Reid's Book Club."
Liberals are hopping mad because Rush Limbaugh referred to phony soldiers as "phony soldiers." They claim he was accusing all Democrats in the military of being "phony."
True, all Democrats in the military are not phony soldiers, but all phony soldiers seem to be Democrats.
If we are to believe the self-descriptions of callers to talk radio and the typical soldier interviewed on MSNBC, the military is fairly bristling with Moveon.org types.
The reality is quite the opposite. While liberals have managed to worm themselves into every important institution in America, from the public schools to the CIA to charitable foundations, they are shamefully absent from the military.
As noted in that great book that came out this week, "If Democrats Had Any Brains, They'd Be Republicans":
"According to a Military Times survey taken in September 2004, active-duty military personnel preferred President Bush to Kerry by about 73 percent to 18 percent. Sixty percent describe themselves as Republican and less than 10 percent call themselves Democrat (the same 10 percent that MSNBC has on its speed-dial). Even among the veterans, Republicans outnumber Democrats 46 percent to 22 percent."
So there aren't a lot of anti-war military types for the media to turn into this month's "It Girl." (If conservatives ran the media, there would be a constant stream of government employees admitting to sloth and incompetence, welfare recipients admitting to being welfare cheats and public schoolteachers who support school vouchers.) Sometimes liberals get desperate and have to concoct Tawana Brawley veterans.
In addition to famous fake soldiers promoted by the anti-war crowd, like Jesse MacBeth and "Winter Soldier" Al Hubbard, even liberals with actual military experience are constantly being caught in the middle of some liberal hoax.
Al Gore endlessly bragged to the media about his service in Vietnam. "I took my turn regularly on the perimeter in these little firebases out in the boonies. Something would move, we'd fire first and ask questions later," he told Vanity Fair. And then we found out Gore had a personal bodyguard in Vietnam, the most dangerous weapon he carried was a typewriter, and he left after three months. Although to his credit, Gore did not put in for a Purple Heart for the carpal tunnel syndrome he got from all that typing.
Speaking of which, John Kerry claimed to be a valiant, Purple Heart-deserving Vietnam veteran, who spent Christmas 1968 in Cambodia -- until he ran for president and more than 280 Swift Boat Veterans called him a liar. We've been waiting more than 20 months for Kerry to make good on his "Meet the Press" pledge to sign form 180, which would allow the military to release his records.
Then there was Bill Burkett, who gave CBS the phony National Guard documents; Scott Thomas Beauchamp, The New Republic's fantasist anti-war "Baghdad Diarist"; and Max Cleland, whose injuries were repeatedly and falsely described as a result of enemy fire.
Liberals will even turn a war hero like Pat Tillman into an anti-war cause celebre posthumously -- so he can't disagree. Tillman died in a friendly fire incident that occurred -- unlike Max Cleland's accident -- during actual combat with the enemy.
Because they are screaming, hysterical women, liberals treat friendly fire like a drunk driving accident. But friendly fire has been a part of war from time immemorial.
Liberals have an insane, litigious view of the military: There's been an accident in warfare, let's sue! It's as mad as the line from "Dr. Strangelove": "Gentlemen! No fighting in the War Room!" Golly jeepers, accidents can't happen in a war!
Contrary to the insinuations of his family, we don't know what Pat Tillman would say about the war he volunteered for, but we do know that he was a patriot until death. And we know what other patriots have said about friendly fire during a war.
In his book "Faith of My Fathers," John McCain describes how demoralized American prisoners of war in Vietnam were when they didn't hear any bombing for years. Finally, after a long bombing halt, Nixon renewed aerial bombing of North Vietnam in December 1972.
Our bombers couldn't know with precision where the enemy was holding (and torturing) our troops. McCain and the rest of those POWs could easily have been hit and killed by an American bomb.
But the POWs weren't denouncing the U.S. military for risking their lives with "friendly fire." They weren't crying Mommy, investigate this! Get me a trial lawyer!If their camp had been hit by American bombs, it would have been as the POWs were shouting: "God bless President Nixon!"
That's from their own mouths; that's what's in their hearts. Friendly fire -- to a nation that hasn't lost its wits -- is part of waging war.
If Democrats don't want to hear about "phony soldiers," maybe they should stop trying to edify us with these bathos-laden hoaxes.

It would be nice if the dems could focus their case, and stop over-reaching with the screaching. There is a legitimate debate about whether the cost is too high, yet Reid goes off with his:
1) the war is lost
2) Limbaulh is wrong, not all dems soldiers are phony
3) accept "betrayus" as acceptable

We had quite a trip to Afghanistan, the frontline in the war against terror. Like our trip to Iraq last year, we went to Afghanistan primarily to say thank you to the 25,000 Americans currently serving there. It is a very tough place. Again, this is not O'Reilly playing foreign correspondent. I'll leave that to our fine FOX News reporters based overseas. Now during our journey, we were able to meet thousands of troops, many of whom stood in line for hours to see us. We brought to gifts and well wishes from "Factor" viewers. And I was honored to speak with so many patriotic Americans:
We just came over to say thanks to all the troops who are protecting us from very bad people. Happy Thanksgiving. Nice to meet you. You know, I'm just hoping the Afghans help you guys out is the key to it, you know. That's how the bad guys are. We sure appreciate your patriotism, sir. Now these brave men and women were very much like our troops in Iraq, determined to beat the terrorists — in this case the Taliban and Al Qaeda — who have wreaked havoc on the poor people of Afghanistan.
We had a very tight itinerary, but covered a lot of ground. And in the process, I spoke with most of the Americans in charge of this theater. I learned the following. The Taliban has adopted the suicide bombing techniques of the Iraqi terrorists, but unlike Iraq, Afghan terrorists have to operate secretly in much of the country because they lack popular support. The reason the Taliban still operates at all is that the Pakistani government allows it to hide inside Pakistan. Iran is now sending bomb components and other weaponry to the Taliban. NATO forces are not able to control the opium industry. And as a result, Afghanistan now provides most of the world's heroin. But very little of that comes to America, where Mexican heroine dominates the market. Some NATO countries in Afghanistan, like Canada, Britain, Australia and Poland are aggressive in the fight. Some other NATO countries are not. The Afghan army will fight but the police remain largely ineffective and corrupt. U.S. forces are aggressively on the attack and have dealt the Taliban grievous losses. So far, about four hundred American service people have been killed in action in Afghanistan. Almost everyone admits the American presence in that country will be long term.
This is one of the most chaotic places on earth. Life expectancy is one of the lowest in the world: 44 years. And there is little infrastructure. Many of the 32 million Afghans don't even have electricity or plumbing. If the USA pulled out, some form of dictatorship would move in. Either the Taliban or criminal warlord. Right now, America is Afghanistan's only hope for future prosperity as most of the world could not care less as usual. So once again, the USA is trying to do a noble thing — improve the lives of people halfway around the world and protect our own lives at the same time. It is expensive, frustrating, and difficult. Thank God we have fine people fighting the good fight.

The Next President of The United States, and Iraq Wednesday, November 28, 2007 By Bill O'Reilly
There's no question the bloody chaos in Iraq led to the Democrats winning last November and controlling both the House and the Senate. And some Dems are counting on Iraq to assure a presidential victory next November, but that strategy is now in doubt because by all accounts, the surge in Iraq is working and things are improving there. This puts the Democrats in a tight spot. Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Harry Reid, Ted Kennedy, John Edwards, and Bill Richardson all opposed the surge. They're all on the record.
Now all of those people were wrong. So while the Bush administration was wrong about Saddam having WMDs and grossly underestimating the amount of help the Iraqis would give the USA, the Democrats have now made a big Iraq mistake as well. "Talking Points" believes a majority of Americans want Iraq to become a stable country friendly to the West, a bulwark against terrorism in the Middle East. Folks turned against the war because there was little sign of progress. And the Bush administration seemed helpless to turn the tide. Above all, Americans want strong leadership in the fight against terrorism. So now the Democrats have lost a big cannon, so to speak. And if the economy stays relatively strong, there will be no one huge issue dominating the vote. Of course, it's possible that Iraq will turn chaotic again. But it is even money that things will continue to improve in that country. No longer can the Democrats count on the Iraq factor as they did last year.
We are living in very difficult times. Very difficult. The nuts running around screaming that President Bush should be impeached or that Hillary Clinton is the spawn of the devil accomplish nothing. This country needs creative, clear-thinking leadership, problem solving and honest presentations. Most Americans are tired of illegal alien chaos, sick of the oil industry gouging them, frustrated with corruption in the Iraqi government, fearful of another terror attack, appalled at media dishonesty, angry at radicals trying to change the culture, and confused by some Americans feeling happy when their own country gets hammered. The vast majority of folks believe in the nobility of America and want leaders who respect our traditions and believe the USA is a noble nation. All the presidential candidates on both sides should keep that in mind. And that's the memo

So, Americans from Latin-American ditch the spanish and the hat dances, wave old-glory, and become Latino Americans, by and large, which is more accurate.
I think I will just keep it simple, I like it that way, and so, if it looks like duck, talks like a duck, yeap, I will just call it a duck, but dont take offense if you're a duck, none is ever intended, its only how its received by minds of low esteem. So if you have a problem with me calling you a duck, go see a shrink, but hurry up, before the 08 election, there may not be any available sofas then, the dems will no doubt lose again as they may not get enough minority votes from pandering the race card while race baiting, with more broken pandering promises and failures, with a vested interest in keeping many in a hell hole of expected failure and low expectations and false assertions of oppression and victimization, just to keep that voting block secured in perpetuity. When I hear the black saying, Im Negro and Im Proud, then I will know they are really free of the DEM's slave chains. When Negros are proud of being Negros, they will be card carrying RNC voters. What Does America Owe Our Military People Fighting Overseas? Thursday, November 29, 2007 By Bill O'Reilly
About four million Americans watched my report from Afghanistan on Monday. My main point was that U.S. forces are performing heroically, but the war against Al Qaeda and the Taliban will never be won until Pakistan stops allowing those terrorists sanctuary. Well, today, Arthur Keller, former CIA case officer inside Pakistan, wrote the exact same thing in The New York Times. The U.S. taxpayer will provide an astounding $785 million to Pakistan next year if the new budget is passed. But unless the Pakistani government partners up with NATO to suppress the Taliban, that money should be withheld.
President Bush is rightly worried that Islamic fundamentalists might overthrow Musharraf and then control nuclear weaponry in Pakistan. That is a grave concern. But something must be done about the Taliban and Al Qaeda sanctuaries. It is not fair to ask the American military to put forth their lives and put their lives on the line when the enemy has a protected zone. There should be no protected zones in war. Either Musharaf cooperates or no money. Period. Hampered by an apathetic world and crazy far left zealots here in the USA, the rules of engagement in fighting the War on Terror are far too stringent. We owe it to our troops to give them the tools to win.
Back home, we hope the USO and the celebrity community will stop dithering around and begin monthly visits to the troops. Some "Factor" viewers have pointed out more American celebrities have visited the tyrant Hugo Chavez in Venezuela this year than they have visited the troops in Afghanistan. How appalling is that? Where is the modern day Bob Hope? Where are the rich and famous in the War on Terror? Let's get it in gear. This country should provide every comfort to our troops abroad, including high-profile visits from celebrities. We are working with the USO to correct this problem. And we'll let you know what happens. Again, this is unacceptable. Celebrities have a responsibility to their country as well. One way to honor that responsibility is to visit the troops. Finally, it's the holiday season and most of us will be celebrating and having fun. But hundreds of thousands of our countrymen are suffering from wounds, fighting in hell holes and sacrificing greatly for our security. We all owe them something. No spin. And that's "The Memo."

I was 12yo, Jr-high, after a class on civics, the teacher played the song REVOLUTION by the beatles in class, for the analysis, and I wrote something about "change the world" and "revolution" on the class wall, in pencil 1"x2", tiny. A PE coach saw me do it, and that's a no no, haul me off into the gym, where 100 other boys were watching, down went the shorts, and WACKO!!!!! paddle swat to the bare butt, hurt like a MF. I had no opinions at the time bad/good, but one thing is for sure, I did not write on anymore GD walls again.
Most children punishment can be perfected by the jet-eyed mind tricks, threats of various forms of punishments, only occasionally with the little fanny swat, and maybe 1 time every 3 years or so, for the hard POUNDING with a SWAT paddle, and make it count, get it red, dont screw around, THEIR LIVES ARE AT STAKE, but you may have to dodge the social workers and cops looking for victims and perpetrators. Screw em, your children' future is at stake here, dont spare the rod, when absolutely called for.
EVERYTHING IS ON THE TABLE, when it comes to keeping children in line, otherwise you end up with goooouuuueeeieee children, with no back bone, children with no character and no discipline. Just keep that paddle hanging in the closet, and let em know exactly where it's at. Dont mean you should use it. Dont mean you will use it. But if the swat fits the crime in view of age, get it out and WACKO!!!!

Just got confirmation. Wife says that stupid russians, after watching Yelzin drunk in pubic for years, they voted him back in office, the stupid Russians just go with the flow. Going with the flow is the culture acclimation to strong-man rule, as I characaterize it. It will take some time before Russia is a hot bed of social liberalism, but its coming, its inevitable.

The victory by the UNITED RUSSIA party, in my view, is not all that bad. Another 6 years of "Russian Democracy" has occured, each time, cementing the democracy thing, building presidences and continuity. The internet is alive and well, information flows are occurring, defeating long term concerns about media controls, as the CONFLUENCE marches on. Baby steps for sure, but, for sure. Razputin nailed in perpetuity the Russian Term Limits, a long term plus. Razputin kept Russia from falling apart, and hence, the name "UNITED RUSSIA". Razputin built Russian pride and the economy, tying Russia with the west, in perpetuity. But that call to arms (RUSSA UNITE) will wain in the out years, and the democrats cries become louder, in the slow-go cultural evolution in the Russias. All is on track, and going very well in Russkiland, as the confluence marches on.

NPR.org, November 30, 2007 · Venezuelan elections Sunday could change the country's constitution and concentrate yet more power in the hands of its controversial president, Hugo Chavez.
The stocky, 53-year-old former soldier already has wide-ranging domestic power, and his country's oil wealth gives him unprecedented influence outside the country. He has been a polarizing figure in both arenas, clashing with business interests at home and with the United States and other leading industrial nations abroad.
The proposed changes could make it possible for him to stay in power indefinitely.
The Proposed Changes
Among the 69 constitutional changes up for a vote is one that would free Chavez from a two-term limit and allow him to run for re-election as many times as he wishes. Another provision would give the president authority over the central bank and, thus, over Venezuela's money supply and interest rates. A third proposal would allow the government to detain citizens without charge during a state of emergency.
Critics say the changes would spell the end of Venezuela's democracy and allow Chavez to reign as a virtual dictator.
Supporters of the plan say the changes actually would give more direct power to Venezuela's working people by, among other things, allowing them to speak through a system of neighborhood councils.
Controversial Politics
Chavez has stirred controversy through much of his career.
He is a former Venezuelan Army paratrooper who rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel before leading a failed military coup in 1992. He and his military colleagues based their attempted revolution on a socialist-style doctrine called "Bolivarianism," which was named for Simon Bolivar, the 19th century Venezuelan revolutionary leader. The doctrine, which they had developed over 10 years, calls for freedom from foreign economic or political domination, participatory democracy, economic self-sufficiency and fair distribution of the country's oil wealth.
After his troops failed to gain control of Venezuela's capital city, Caracas, Chavez gave himself up and served two years in prison. While he was in jail, the man he sought to overthrow, President Carlos Andres Perez, was impeached on corruption charges and removed from office.
Chavez was pardoned in 1994. He entered politics, establishing a party called the Movement of the Fifth Republic.
He advocated free health care and education for Venezuela's poor, as well as a fair distribution of Venezuela's oil wealth. This platform helped him win the presidency in 1998, with 56 percent of the vote.
Leading the Country
Once in office, Chavez responded to his major constituency, the poor, with "Plan Bolivar 2000." He boosted government spending on roads, housing and disease prevention. He also blocked efforts to privatize state-controlled businesses, including some in the oil and aluminum industries.
When opponents in Venezuela's national assembly stalled his legislation, he called a referendum to rewrite the constitution and held an election that ensured it was rewritten by his supporters. The new constitution increased the president's powers and made it easier for him to control the legislative branch.
In 2002, Chavez was briefly deposed in a coup, triggered, in part, by his attempts to gain control over the state-owned oil company. He was held under arrest for about two days before soldiers loyal to him recaptured the presidential palace and restored him to power.
Chavez later claimed that the administration of President George W. Bush provided covert support for those who tried to overthrow him, a charge the United States has denied.
Two years later, Chavez prevailed over an attempt to recall him, winning 59 percent of the vote in an election that was certified by international monitors as free and fair.
Foreign Allegiances
In foreign affairs, Chavez has sought to align himself with Latin American leaders who oppose the influence of the United States, especially on their economic policies. They include Cuban leader Fidel Castro, Bolivian President Evo Morales and outgoing Argentinean President Nestor Kirchner.
He has also met with autocratic rulers from other nations, including Moammar Gadhafi of Libya and Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko.
Chavez often antagonizes the United States. In a 2006 speech to the U.N. General Assembly, he referred to President Bush as "the devil," accusing him of seeking to dominate and exploit developing nations. He also has offered deeply discounted heating fuel to low-income families in the United States, from parts of New York City to remote villages in Alaska.
Chavez's abrasive style has recently drawn him into confrontations with other world figures. At a recent summit meeting in Chile, King Juan Carlos of Spain asked the Venezuelan leader why he wouldn't "shut up" while the Spanish prime minister was speaking.
He recently insulted the president of neighboring Colombia, Alvaro Uribe, during an effort to mediate with Colombia's leftist rebels. Chavez called Uribe "a servile instrument of the North American empire in Latin America."
Chavez has never been beaten in a national election in Venezuela, largely because of a powerful campaign machine that gets out the votes of his supporters among the country's poor and working classes. In his referendum bid for still greater powers, though, he may face a tougher fight than usual. Recent polls have shown him in a tie with opponents of his proposed constitutional changes.

Go in slow, keep it up there center stage, (let the voters know who will really protect them) and go out slow, for MAXIMUM political gain by the REPs.

Back to Iran. Preemptive strikes are legitimate where there is a potential threat with previous bad act. In connection with Saddam, 14 years of UN violations, No Fly violation, wars, oppression, gassing, and more, preemptive strikes were clearly justified. What about Iran? OK, REID get a copy of the "2003" intel report that they stopped. OK, what about today? What about lying about it for 15 years? What about funding terror organization, The Guard, Hezzbollah, HAMAS, Iraq, Afghanistan. There are sufficent justifications for a preemptive strike. This INTEL memo take a physical invasion off the table, but none was ever contemplated, (except in the retarted minds of the war monger screamers), but rather, a simple blockade to enforced all IAEA requirements. OK, no invasion, but of course this sets up the Gulf of Tonken redo. Chimpie realizes that no invasion is necessary. But why now was the intel release. This is a common tactic by defense lawyers, GET THE BAD stuff out, and let them chew on it. OK, done, but why now? Chimpie is setting up the blockade and wants all negative intel out so that later, come 08 election, there would be no charges of hiding intel. OK, done. The release of the INTEL, is a clear signal to the EU that the US will go ahead with the blockade, unless sanction push compliance before the then. As such, the release of INTEL is a signal to the EU, to get on it an impose tuff sanctions with/without Russia/China on board. I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch and filled it with seed. What a beauty of a bird feeder it is, as I filled it lovingly with seed. Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the
continuous flow of free and easily accessible food.
But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the barbecue. Then came the poop. It was everywhere: on the patio tile, the chairs, the table, etc, everywhere!
Then some of the birds turned mean. They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket. And others birds were boisterous and loud. They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food.
After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch anymore. So I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio.
Soon, the back yard was like it used to be .. quiet, serene and no one demanding their rights to a free meal.
Now let's see ... Our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care, and free
education and allows anyone born here to be an automatic citizen.
Then the illegals came by the tens of thousands. Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are housing 5 families; you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor;
your child's 2nd grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn't speak English.
Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box; I have to
'press one' to hear my bank talk to me in English, and people waving flags other than 'Old Glory' are quawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties.
Just my opinion, but maybe it's time for the government to take down the bird feeder. If you agree, pass it on; if not, continue cleaning up the poop!

But what is happening now is that the greed of the bankers has been so unchecked that they are bleeding the voters to death. Politicians will soon have nothing to gain and everything to lose by being allied with the bankers. The very likely dynamic will be that the bankers will be singled out for 100% of the blame because that is the nature of politicians who will be keen to save their own skins. The Gold Suppression scam depends on having enough physical gold to continue the scheme, but it also depends on the collaboration between politicians and bankers. We know there are big cracks in the dam on gold availability, there are now big cracks in the dam on collaboration. Bankers will want to continue their greedy scam while politicians will more and more be looking to save their skins.

My two boys, 3 and 4yo, 4yo is an anglo with a oval head, low forehead, flat nose bridge, after me, whereas the 3yo, is a slav (after mom) with a round head, high forehead, and deep nose bridge. To the untrained eye, look the same, but is obvious to me now. The 3yo was born with blond hair, and brown, and it reminded of a joke.
I was at DVGU (fareastern state university) talking with professor Igor in the hallway. And he ask me what did I think of Vladivostok. I looked at him seriously, step close to him, noses nearly touches, looking over left and right shoulders, (so that I was assured no one was over hearing my answer), and I said, its OK, but its full of RUSSIANS!!! He laughed.
Today I said you know who looks like a Russian? hhhmmm Putin, wife smiled, and then I explained that joke, that Russians and American were enemies, and that that joke reflected that posture. My Russian wife said, that Russians never thought of Americans (the people) as enemies, only the germans because of the war. That answer surprised me. I then ask why. She said that Russians just make jokes about the Americans and think Americans are STUPID!!! I roared, I was on the floor!!! thinking how Canadians and EU said Americans were stupid voting in Bush. I guess we are stuck on stupid, of course, winning the cold war was just a fluke.
There is a favorite Russian Comedian, named Mihiel Zadornov, many such stories and jokes about Americans.
Russian in car get motions sickness and goes to McDonald in the US, and goes in and asks for a pickle, "we dont sell pickles", my friend is sick and needs a pickle, and I know you have pickles in your hamburgers, Americans are stupid can figure out how to give whole pickles. (In russia, pickles are used for motion sickness and intoxication)
In hot steam saunas in Russia you are beaten with branches to clean the skin, so Mihael brought only 2 branches to the US, and Customs held him up for hours because of the branches, so Mihiel explains what they are used for, Custom "YOU BEAT YOURSELF?". Customs confiscated the branches.
Doorman at US Hotel asks Miheil each day HOW ARE YOU?, answer I find, for weeks, then "HOW ARE YOU?", and Mihiel proceeds to explain everything detail.
To understand these jokes, of course, YOU MUST BE RUSSIAN. Their humor is about what US humor was in the 1950s, simple and funny.
When walking (while shivering and constantly complaining about it) in the snow in Kharkov Ukraine in 1995 with a couple of freinds who knew I could not handle the cold, I saw a dead mouse, and pointed at it, and exclaimed "Americanski Mish!!", they just roared, indicating American are weak, they love that, simple humor especially when American are the butt end.
They also love little stories, anything that make Aericans look stupid, they just love it, and this is my fav story to tell. They always enjoy it.
In 2001 I stayed in Vladivostok, at wife's and baba place for a couple of weeks. They lived then in a tenement building, we would consider a slum tenement. Get the picture? OK, now each floor had locked door, entering into a hall where flat doors. These flat doors are doubled, each with 1 to 3 locks, security is a major concern. When the girls were out, they would lock me in, literally. The flat was a studio two rooms only, a kitchen and a living room both facing a balcony, each room has a door with door latches to a balcony up 9 floors. Interest how the outside look really bad, but the insider are kept nice. Anyway, the living room also had several small 1'x1' air windows. Its -20C outside, the balcony windows were porous, one window is completely out, and the balcony was very cold with a light breeze of very light snow. With the girls out, I go onto the balcony for a smoke, I can only take about 5 minutes out there, its so cold, but that's enough time. And so, after the five minutes, I try to go back into the flat, but when I had shut the kitchen door to go out on the balcony, the latch must have fell down, and I was locked out on the balcony, in sweats, and freezing. I panic. Both balcony doors are locked, I panic more, and I start to freeze, with the girls expected back in three hours. I am starting to panic, this is serious, I don’t do well in -20C only in sweats. YOU GETTING THE PICTURE???? I am really scared now, and shivering from head to toe, shanking hard, and panicing. YOU GETTING THE PICTURE??? WHAT DO I DO?
So, I checked the small windows, and one 1'x1' window, that is an air window of sorts, was open, but it was 6' off the balcony floor, but there was my entry to the warm. Tight fit, but I got no choice, so there was a bucket on the balcony, I flipped it over, stood on it, but it was too short. Got a box, put bucket on box and stood on. Grabbing one leg, I put one foot through the small window, while hanging on to the upper edge of the window pane, I managed to get the other foot in. So, imagine this, I am 6' off the ground with feet inside the window, with hands grabbing the upper small window pane, FREEZING MY TAIL OFF. YOU GETTING THE PICTURE??? Im struggling just hanging there, all alone and freezing.
However, with head, torso and butt hanging out, I could not press my legs in any further. YOU GETTING THE PICTURE???. And so I start straining trying to get the legs in farther, but NO GO. But, I have to get in, life on the line, being frooze. I strained harder, NO GO, I strained harder, and then all of a sudden, I dumped big time in my sweat pants, the poop just shot out, and my sweat pants were now loaded with poop. YOU GETTING THE PICTURE??? So, 6' off the ground, feet in window, hands hanging on to upper frame, in sweats, freezing my tail, with a load of poop drooping down in the sweats rear. YOU GETTING THIS PICTURE???
So, I slowly backed out of the small window, got down, reached a hand down in the sweats, pulled out a huge dung ball and splat onto the balcony floor, my hands and butt covered with poop, and stinking. I have not done that since 1959 walking home past a Jack Lelane Health spa in Rolling Hills CA as a child, throwing the poop ball on the ground, after walking like a scared virgin for a hour.
Sure, it stunk bad, but I had to do something, I am freezing. I stacked up another box, and going in feet first again, stinking the entire time, and making a mess with poop all over the balcony and windows. Pushing my legs feet first into window, the two boxes and bucket fell over, and I slung downward, but hung on to the window pane, and slid my legs, then the torso, wiggling the entire time in a tight fit in a rebirth, and finally, back in side. I jumped in the shower with clothes on, spent two hours cleaning up poop on the balcony and in the sweat and on the windows, but at least I was warm again, and that is what you call A TIGHT FIT!!
I bought BABA a new condo closer to downtown, but it too has a balcony, so I will remain careful.

When we got marry, it custom to drive around in a caravan to various city monuments and make toasts to new marriage. Another story, pop served on a destroyer during the cold war. In Russia hitch hiking is common, though no thumb, a flat hand out is the signal. One day, a guy give us a lift, old timer, he said he served on a submarine during the cold war. I couldn't agree more. Fred is a sharp contrast to the other candidates.
Rush went on to say:

Yesterday, Rush talked about Fred's recent interview with Charlie Rose. Again, Fred impressed the talk radio king by befuddling Rose with a discussion of conservative principles. This makes no sense to liberals who see the expansion of government as the only political principle.
As Rush always says, Republicans don't win by being Democrats. We win by being conservatives. We're never going to out-tax and out-spend Democrats. We shouldn't even try. In fact, we should do the opposite -- cut taxes, cut government, and defend life.
Fred's 100% pro-life voting record, endorsement by National Right to Life, and many years of cutting taxes and opposing government waste prove Fred is what he says he is: a consistent conservative.
Fred will secure our borders, enforce our laws, cut taxes, and strengthen our military. He has a plan to reform Social Security and will fight for strict constructionist judges on the federal courts.

The good news is that U.S. intelligence now believes Iran stopped trying to develop a nuclear weapon a few years ago. Apparently that information was gathered just this summer from sources within Iran.
So if that's true, it takes some of the urgency away from a confrontation with the Iranian mullahs. The USA certainly does not need another conflict right now with our troops tied up in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The bad news is that anti-American people will use the new intel to mock the USA and diminish the threat from radical Islam. You have to understand that there are Americans who despise heir own country, feel the USA is the cause of terrorism in the world. This crew was epitomized by people like Jane Fonda. Well, we called Senator Biden to back up his assertion. His spokesperson Elizabeth Alexander says national security advisor Stephen Hadley confirms what Biden says.
But Mr. Hadley says that's not true. He confirms President Bush learned about the new intelligence last Wednesday. Now, we've called Senator Biden and asked him to come on "The Factor" tomorrow. We'll see if he shows up.
Because of the new intel, it will be more difficult to hold Iran and other nations accountable for their murderous activities in the future. There's no question about it. Doesn't seem to bother the loony left that Iran is killing American military people in Iraq and Afghanistan right now by shipping deadly weapons to terrorists. After all, according to these Fonda wanna-bes, it's America's fault for being there. It's interesting to know like WMDs in Iraq, the U.N. couldn't define nukes in Iran. We'll talk with foreign U.N. ambassador John Bolton about that in a few moments.
Knowing what totalitarian nations are doing, though, it is very tough work to find any intel. The USA recently made a nuke deal with North Korea, for example. But is that country really getting out of the nuke business? They lied to President Clinton about it. They could be lying now. It's almost impossible to know.
But what we do know is that Iran is enriching uranium. And it doesn't have to. It has plenty of local energy without going nuclear. And enriching uranium is a primary step toward developing a nuclear weapon.
But "Talking Points" is glad tonight that new intel says Iran is pulling back. We hope that's true. Stratfor believes this even may lead to detente with Iran. Hope is always a good thing, but so is being realistic. Islamic terrorism is a real threat. Those who reject that truism put us all in danger. And that's the Memo.

The Deaths of Two Illegal Aliens Near Houston...

Now last night, we told you about 61-year old Joe Horn, who shot two alleged burglars dead in Pasadena, Texas outside of Houston. The harrowing incident was recorded on 911:
JOE HORN: OK, he's coming out the window right now. I got to go, buddy. I'm sorry, but he's coming out the window.
DISPATCHER: No, don't. Don't go out the door. Mr. Horn. Mr. Horn...
HORN: God -- they just stole something. I'm going out the window.
DISPATCHER: No...
HORN: I'm sorry, I ain't letting them get away with this. They stole something. They got a bag of stuff. I'm doing it. You hear the shotgun clicking, and I'm going.
DISPATCHER: Don't go outside.
HORN: Move, you're dead!
And they were dead. Mr. Horn has not yet been charged, but a grand jury will most likely hear the case. However, "The Factor" has been investigating, and the victims or perpetrators, depending on your point of view, were both illegal aliens with criminal backgrounds. So once again, our chaotic immigration system has led to death.
Miguel Dejesus and Diego Ortiz were both from Colombia. Dejesus spent six years in a Texas prison for drug dealing, then was deported. Obviously, he came back illegally. Ortiz was arrested by Houston police on a drug charge. We don't know much more about him, because Houston is a "Sanctuary City" and does not cooperate with Homeland Security or with the press in matters involving criminal aliens.
As you may know, Houston is one of the most crime ridden cities in America and criminal aliens have added to that problem. Mayor Bill White and Police Chief Harold Hurtt remain totally defiant in the face of all the chaos. They are supported by the far left Houston Chronicle but now they may be partly responsible for the deaths of Dejesus and Ortiz.
You see, if Mayor White and Chief Hurtt would themselves obey the law and inform Homeland Security any time an illegal alien is arrested, some of the deadly dealings might stop. But White and Hurtt refuse to do that.
In Phoenix, Mayor Phil Gordon, who told us he would change that city's sanctuary policies, will now do so after police officer Nick Erpol was murdered by a criminal alien.
"Talking Points" has a simple question. How many more people have todie before the federal government denies federal funding to sanctuary cities? Places like Houston, San Francisco, New Haven, Connecticut, and so on should get no federal money, because their sanctuary policies are harming the country. This isn't a complex issue. Homeland Security must be notified any time an illegal alien is arrested, period.
Few Americans will have any sympathy for Miguel Dejesus and Diego Ortiz, but they didn't deserve to die. And Joe Horn, obviously in an emotional state, does not deserve to have his life ruined. Again and again, this broadcast has stated the illegal alien chaos muststop. And we should not vote for any presidential candidate who doesn't support the immediate confinement of criminal aliens. This has been going on for far too long. And that's "The Memo."

North Korea is expected to complete dismantling of their nuke program this month, accomplished through your tenaciousness in keeping the pressure on. That is a great victory. May I suggest you blow the World's mind and invite IL to the Whitehorse, and while your at it, invite Qaddify of Libia and have a tea party on the Whitehorse lawn. That's ONE down, TWO to go.
Taking down Saddam's Iraq in three weeks was indeed a great first mission accomplished. Sure the insurgency was tricky, but through your tenaciousness, the surge is working and VP Cheney indicated that by the end of your administration, Iraq will be a functioning democracy. Your tenaciousness has been key in the face of naysayers and blame gamers. This is a second great mission accomplished. Thats TWO down, and only one to go.
You came into office faced with this tri-party axis of evil, and you must go out, with all three put to bed. While Bin Laden may have started the last great global militancy, the war on terror, which is really now in mop-up, will end, and the world will be left with increasing interconnectiveness and world trade as WAR is replaced by TRADE WARS. Your administration in the history of mankind, has finally reach a point where the world focuses not on war for gain, but on trade, and this is a very good thing. Your administration has done much to improve the long term outlook for mankind, but Iran is the last serious nut to crack and Iran must be put to bed, at part of the war on terror, to start a new era of mankind, where Trade Wars replace Wars, in the new age of civil trading interconnectiveness.
A blockade is the means if sanctions are not productive. If the EU goes along with sanctions and Iran heels, and complies to all IAEA requirements, then ok, but if not, force the issue, and don’t leave this problem to the next administration. There are many other issues that need attention, such as the border, and saddling the next president with the Iranian issue is a gamble that must not be taken, as your predecessor may not have your bold character and tenaciousness.
The timing of a blockade is a matter of choice, during the primaries, after the primaries, or after the election, but before you leave office. It this regard, be prepared for the Gulf of Tonken redo, and target missile batteries, nuke facilities, and the personal residences of the controlling Mullahs and high ranking Iranian Officials. At some point, if the sanctions are not productive, blockade Iran and force the issue. Iran could not handle a blockade, naval and air along Iranian borders, to sink Iranian economy and give rise to tension that may force full compliance without a retaliatory strike.
Make Iran heel, or take them out, FOR THE HAT TRICK, before you leave office, so as to better this world in the age of global democratization and trading interconnectiveness. Secure the future of this world, and finish the job you started seven years ago, as the world depends on it. In so doing and in time, you will be remembered for saving Islam from centuries of social stagnation, and remembered for eliminating the last great global militancy, allowing the world to enter a new era of civil trade without war, with a legacy well suited for one of the status of WORLD HERO.

I have seen this before, up close and personal, you see I have two boys 3 and 4yo, and they have no sense of a social conscience, IT ALL ABOUT THEM, and what they want, how to create fun, while trying to push the envelope of acceptable behavior, at all times.
Here, first they learn the sick behaviour, some say it has to do with a failure to bond with father early on, that may be, butt is also a learned behaviour getting kicks out of doing something new, and then becomes custom.

Check back in 10 years, and get that same group with the woodies, and get the dancing girls going again, and check out the woodies. Thanks Adrian,
It was exceeding interesting to review Adrian Douglas' analysis over the past couple of weeks, and today, it came home clear to me, being enlightened by Adrian's call that the Cartel would throw the kitchen sink at Gold led by GS to stop the December 0I Bulls. Here is the sequence.
1) In October, GS comes out and says, gold is going up and the dollar down, and so it was, as GS substantially reduced its short positions, "getting out of dodge" as Adrian puts it and records the GS short trend data.
2) Next, Adrian comes out and bring attention to the increase OI particularly on the December contract. The bulls are on the hunt taking on the Cartel headlong.
3) Next, Adrian noted that with December contract expiry approaching, GS reversed itself, and comes out and says gold will tank next year, yet the OI remains high on the December contract, thereby setting the stage for the battle royale. However, there has been absolutely no change in fundamentals of Gold supply/demand that would suggest a bear gold 08 markets, but that there are many reasons for higher GOLD prices. How can you square that GS bear call with the previous bull call just two months back in view of strong market fundamentals for higher, not lower, gold 08 prices? You cant, unless you follow Adrian's analysis.
4) Adrian comes out and says that the Cartel will throw the kitchen sink at the Gold price to drop it in view of the pending huge December OI, in the pending battle royale.
5) Adrian then notes five days of GS short increases, but notes that those increases merely got GS shorts back to base line, and timed to shake the Gold market just prior to the December expiry.
6) Adrian suggest that these increases in short positions were not increases in net shorts, but rather, merely getting the GS short trend back to the bottom line of GS short position trend. As such, Adrian noted that the GS call for a bear GOLD price in 08 and the corresponding temporarily increase in short position was apparently a head-fake for five days, to try to shake loose the OI bulls, that Adrian first identified.
7) Adrian then notes that GS calls for a tank of gold prices in O8, yet GS effectively continued without substantial abatement their decrease in their short positions. It seems that FRAUD charges is prima facie prevented because GS can always say, "we really believed Gold was heading lower, look, here's the proof, in early December we increase our short positions". There's the defense to fraud, despite the fact that the entire time over a large time period has been a down trend in shorts with "noise" superimposed for the battle royale.
8) Adrian then indicates that the shorts better "batten down the hatches", when noting that the raid today failed, as indicated by the reversals today.
9) Adrian also notes that GS is back to covering short position getting out of dodge, indicating gold is going MUCH higher, but with the Gold 08 Bear call still on record.
What we learn from this sequence, is the fraudulent duplicity of "the boz" led by GS, that is so difficult for the average Joe to see, unless you got some expert help giving you explanation and data points, and Adrian is great to guide us through it all. But Adrian is just not a miner, digging a hole looking for nuggets.
From Adrian Douglas, as reported in 12/4 Midas, "The unholy alliance between politicians and bankers is useful to politicians because it allows them to always have money available to spend which keeps them popular with their voters and gets them re-elected. But what is happening now is that the greed of the bankers has been so unchecked that they are bleeding the voters to death. It is intriguing to see that the sentiment among gold investors is so low at this critical juncture."
That statement tells anyone that Adrian is a great thinker, thinking way outside the mine hole. We have talked about Gold decoupling from the dollar and rising against major currencies to show launches of bull runs, and Gold decoupling from the DOW in search of higher yields during supercycle shifts. Here, Adrian went way outside the mine hole, into the geopolitical and financial world and indicated a decoupling between the politicians and banksters is beginning, that could lead to a breakdown of the Cartel. How true, apparently, Senator Dodd (CT-D) is launching investigations into GS's role in spreading monetized subprime debt around the world, making a fortune in so doing, and yet is now relatively immune. GS apparently sold monetized CDOs to their clients while shorting the same, making a ton of doe, going in the out door and going out the in door. This Dodd action may be the first strike. More politician and DA BOZ decoupling to come, I suspect, as average JOE get really mad with a tanking dollar and banksters throwing them out on the street.
Adrian is so right on, divide and conquer. Blooberg noted that tensions are rising between the various FIAT central banks, vying for suitable rate vis-a-vis others. Even the banksters are go at each other, not trusting each other with over night funds, and no trusting balance sheets. Adrian is not only a great statistician, but also a great thinker, helping us bugs through the sequences developed in the Gold market. Thanks Adrian.

For those who have followed my analysis and timing, one theme has been that 08 will be the year of PMs, and will not have the typical summer softness. This is based upon a third world entry to exchanges enmass, and a chinese market sale off, post the olypics in 8/08, the KABOO time. But the gold price has only increased minimally, even after 20 years of China's reform and market opening," Wang told Reuters during a lunch with three business partners in Lujiazui, Shanghai's financial hub. Coupled with inflation and global economic uncertainty, the redirection of Chinese capital towards domestic gold contracts will help spot prices more than double, says Wang, who says he once cornered two-thirds of the Chinese gold forward contract. "Spot gold prices will hit $2,000 in coming years," he said. Spot gold touched a 28-year high of $845.40 per ounce in early November, nearly doubling over three years amid a flood of investment in the commodities complex -- much of it driven by China's growing demand for raw materials to fuel its economy. A Gored Cartel in Spain,
It was asserted that 2008 will be a very good year for PMs, with silver expected to $23/oz and gold to $1200/oz, and of course, all your favorite mine shares would go ballistic as well in reinforcing concurrent moves. One scenario has been stated that, as the Chinese stock market gets top heavy, toward the approach of the 2008 August Olympics, the Chinese would run to PMs, and KA-boom, the possible move to $30/oz silver and $1500/oz gold. This scenario is based upon exchanges and metal units opening up to the masses, where mom and pop can buy their little share of the PMs, but in the aggregate, represents a huge spike increase in demand. The timing is predicated on the Chinese Government pumping the Chinese stock market at least through 8/08 so as to not rain on their world stage parade. That is, at or near the 8/08 Olympics, the Chinese market would sell off, and having an affinity for PMs, the Chinese would run to PMs.
However, since that 10/07 projection of the sino-dragon 8/08 KA-boom, the OI on the December 07 contract as grown to records and remains very high. In effect, the OI December bulls are taking on the Cartel to crush the Cartel once and for all, to prevent the Cartel's continued lock down on high rates on increase of the gold price. With 450,000 OI in Gold, a stage is set for an end of year fire works show, that could possibly bury the Cartel, with a pending massive short squeeze. However, mom and pop Chinese were not invited to the party, and are not very pleased with their Anglo gold bugs, and may now be thinking that someone is trying to steal their 8/08 PM day view. But not for long!!! Wealthiest of China's investors don’t want to be an hour late and a dollar short. The Cartel demise is assured, with the decreasing gold supplies and increasing gold bulls. The Chinese know it, but don’t want to be cut out of the action. Central Banks gold sales continue, but stocks must be getting low. Not much coming from small countries, such as Spain, for example, who has probably had enough of the running of the bulls, after getting repeatedly gored. The Chinese are smelling a PMs surge, want in on the action, and want in now.

The Chinese are apparently champing at the bit, to get into the PMs, and get in, in a big big big way, and they may not wait for a Chinese market blow off to start getting in, fearing the OI bulls will get all the fun and profits. The Cartel is now riding the December OI bulls, and it’s a wild ride for sure, with the Cartel just barely hanging on, for the bell in just three more weeks. The Chinese want to place their insurance bets that the OI-Bull will not be enough, but that the sino-bull will be tuff enough to hang on to the bell, and gore the Cartel. As such, the Cartel is now also eyeing yet another Gold Bull, the golden Chinese phoenix, the wealthy Chinese, the pride of the sino-bulls, and it’s a real mean one, snorting horns of enthusiastic cultural affinity for the PMs with lots and lots of cash. 2008 could be the year of the golden phoenix. However, we may not have to wait for the August 2008 Olympics and the expected Chinese PM Ka-boom, it may just come this Jan/Feb 2008, with an early bird rising of the golden phoenix from the far east illuminating the west by bidding up Gold to go absolutely ballistic, as the sino-bulls and OI-bulls combine to jointly gore the Cartel just after New Years, as 10 years of running with the bulls may end soon, and the golden phoenix may just deliver up a Gored Cartel in Spain.

LIMA (AFP) - There were fears Bolivia could tip into civil unrest Saturday, as its four wealthiest provinces move to declare autonomy amid warnings from President Evo Morales that the army could intervene.
Demonstrations were due to take place during the day in the eastern regions of Santa Cruz, Tarija, Beni and Pando in which the governors were to formally announce greater self-rule.
Chuquisaca, the region that is home to the constitutional capital Sucre, also said it was gathering signatures on a petition with a view to calling a referendum soon on autonomy. A sixth province, Cochabamba, was wavering.
The leaders of the regions are protesting Morales's moves to overhaul the constitution to give himself greater powers and to redistribute much of the eastern provinces' wealth to the poor Andean highlands.
But the president on Friday threatened soldiers would step in if autonomy was implemented.
"There are the armed forces and the Bolivian people to make sure the country will never disintegrate," he said.
"The autonomy plans seek to divide Bolivia, but the unity of the country is not up for debate."
Defense Minister Walker San Miguel has ordered the army to be ready to protect public buildings if necessary, and 400 extra police have been sent to Santa Cruz, the country's economic heartland and opposition bastion with a population of 1.5 million. He has ruled out a state of emergency, however.
The rebel provinces -- out of the nine that make up Bolivia -- account for around two-thirds of the total gross domestic product and are home to a more than a third of the country's 8.5 million people.
Many of their inhabitants are mixed-race descendants of Spanish colonials, in contrast to the mountainous indigenous population, from which Morales hails, adding a racial dimension to the conflict already divided along political and economic lines.
Morales has called the provinces' move to autonomy illegal and unconstitutional -- the same terms the opposition has levelled at his reforms.
Violence has already occurred, with three people killed during one of several anti-government protests that took place last month.
The Catholic Church in Bolivia called on all parties to talk their differences out before it was too late.
Strategic Forecasting, a US intelligence analysis firm, said in its latest report on Bolivia the autonomy move "would be the beginning of the end of Bolivia as a unified state" but that any attempt to quell it by force "could be the beginning of civil war."
Britain's foreign ministry has issued advice to its citizens advising "against all but essential travel" to the provinces claiming autonomy.
"There is the risk that any marches and demonstrations in Bolivia could turn violent," it said.
After winning independence from Spain in 1825, Bolivia was wracked by internal wars, military rule and coups. Democracy is still relatively new, with stable civilian government dating back only to 1982.
The landlocked country is the poorest in South America despite possessing large gas, iron and mangnesium deposits.

In the US, the left is constantly trying to BUY votes through pandering of social promises, eg universal health care, but of course, the money needed in view of the boomers retirement and War and other entitlements are largely ignored, in balancing anything. What is also ignored is that the more to feed the people, the less they feed themselves, and hence, destructiveness of the pandering social services over the long run, yet, sound good in the first instance, kinda like a drug addict's fix. So, as long as the gov has the printing press, no amount of dollars is too small, and wont fly, and yet another broken promise and failure by the Dem pandering HOs.
The Rep are the tax cutters (to preserve the economy), and the Dems are the tax promoters (to fund hand outs). This has been the classic battle over the ages.
We tried Johnston Great Society, and largely was a failure, and instead of liberating the poor, functioned to destroy families, such as black families, (why have a husband, why be responsible, when the gov will give me a pay raise for each child, says the hubbard moms), for example. Except trying to obtain reachable, moderate, and needed SOCIAL HAND UPs, the Dems seek the HAND OUT. The right has blame to, in bailing out as well, but in the subprime context, only about 500,000 will be affected, and seems MODERATE. Not so with the Dems, THEY ARE SOCIALISTS, inherently so. Russian President Putin named Time magazine's person of the year

NEW YORK (AFP) — Time magazine named President Vladimir Putin its person of the year Wednesday, recognizing the Russian leader's role in achieving stability even at the cost of Western-style freedom and democracy.
The award is not considered an honor so much as a recognition of the most powerful forces and individuals shaping the world, according to the magazine.
It was handed to Putin for reshaping a country that Managing Editor Richard Stengel said had "fallen off our mental map."
"At significant cost to the principles and ideas that free nations prize, he has performed an extraordinary feat of leadership in imposing stability on a nation that has rarely known it and brought Russia back to the table of world power," Stengel wrote.
"For that reason, Vladimir Putin is Time's 2007 Person of the Year," he added, saying the Russian leader had made Moscow "a critical linchpin of the 21st century."
"If Russia fails, all bets are off for the 21st century. And if Russia succeeds as a nation-state in the family of nations, it will owe much of that success to one man, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin," he wrote.
Putin, he added, "is not a boy scout. He is not a democrat in any way that the West would define it. He is not a paragon of free speech.
"He stands, above all, for stability -- stability before freedom, stability before choice, stability in a country that has hardly seen it for a hundred years."
Putin's latest coup is to have all but secured himself the post of prime minister if his protege Dmitry Medvedev becomes president in March, continuing his position among the top Russian leadership after eight years at the helm.
In an interview with the magazine, Putin said Russia wanted to be a close ally of the United States but that Washington did not treat it as an equal.
"We want to be a friend of America," the Russian leader told the magazine, while adding: "Sometimes we get the impression that America does not need friends" but only "auxiliary subjects to command."
While the Kremlin celebrated Time's selection, US officials declined to comment. White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said only that Putin was "a very intriguing figure in modern history" while the State Department sidestepped the question.
"I'm not in the business of helping Time sell its magazines," said deputy State Department spokesman Tom Casey.
The magazine named former US vice president and 2007 Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore its first runner-up, followed by British author J.K Rowling, the creator of the blockbuster "Harry Potter" series.
Last year the magazine named "You" as its person of the year, reflecting the importance of user-generated Internet content as a force in the modern world.

When I heard yesterday that you would not seek
to change the Russian constitution and not seek a third term, I jumped for joy
in exaltations for the high moral standard you have now set for later
presidents of Russia to follow. It was truly a noble deed to voluntarily
surrender your political ambitions, when you had the political influence and
power to capture a third term to further your presidency, and did so, for the
over all long term good of mother Russia and world peace. You effectively
placed the long term good of mother Russia above your own personal ambitions
and influence. We in the west intuitively understand that the regular civil
transitions of presidential power enables a society and its government to
remain flexible and adaptable to world changes and the will of the people for
the continued success and long term prosperity and world peace. Regular
transitions of political power enable adaptability to geo-economical and
geo-political changes, whilst avoiding the concentration of absolute power
that eventually corrupts absolutely. You may not fully appreciate how great
and beneficial is this adaptability, and I am sure that many common Russians
can not fathom and project the long term beneficial effects upon a society by
these regular civil transitions.
You may also not fully appreciate, and I
am sure that most common Russians do not understand how your decision will
effect Russia's future, and effect upon historical views of your presidency
and your legacy. In years to come, Russia will look back and say that at a
time when Russia could have back-slid into concentrated totalitarian
corruption, President Putin stood tall as a true democrat and placed the good
of Russia above all else, and acted to maintain democracy and a government
responsive to the Russian people. You are a world class hero, and a hero of
all the Russias,

Yeah, I know, that was a little over doing it, but I fly to Russia each year, and got to keep the natives happy. Putin provided 8 years of stabilization in Russia. The chechyia rebellion has been sedated, and Russia has emerged from economic collapse, for increased trade and international intercourse, and as such, a good thing for the CONFLUENCE. Now, Razputin and LittleBear (Medvedev), the presumed next president, got to work on that free press thing, which is one of the tricky parts in a democracy. Sure, Russia remains mob, oligarch, and tzar infested, but democracy is handing in there, even if just barely, and thats a good thing.

Just got into Inchon S. Korea, flew in on a 777, that I found to be a nice plane, only two engines, but lots of power, especially takibng off out of LAX with the high winds when we left, once cleared 400 ft, on the 12 hour flight, we were good to go. BUT THIS IS WILD, we of course headed north along the US pacific coast as usual, but kept on going across the bering straights, over Ohkosh and bay beyound Kamchatka, and down in the Primosky which is the far eastern STATE in eastern siberia. This is wild as clearly being over Russia in Russia air space. A far cry from the 103 downing of Korean Air in the late 70s, I believe. The plane proceeded to fly southeast to and over HARBAROSK, which is on the China-Russia boarder, clearly on a planned Russian air route, then headed south, east of vladivostok, over the sea of Japan, by passing North Korea, for the dog leg around into South Korea. So, in one year since my last fight, the Russians have opened up foreign air travel to use Russian air space for CONVENIENCE!!!. Here, is another indication of the Russian interconnectiveness of the CONFLUENCE that MARCHES on! Just wild, going from Russian migs shooting down a Korean Air commercial liners with civies, to allow (with montioring and protection) divil air liners through Russian air space, EVEN WHEN THE PLANE DOES NOT LAND IN RUSSIA. This is a clear indicator of Russian growing interconnection with the west, a very good thing.

Living in paradise, Laguna Beach Ca, 80s during the summer and 70s during the winter, with about 10 days of rain per year, this FREEZING weather here is for the Karaboe, but hey, as they said on the western plains, one big squaw or RUSSKAYA, and its not a problem. Ian, my friend, will pick me up in Vladivostok. Ian and met in the Inchon Airport, in 2005, he helped me make a phone call, but our plane was delayed because of snow in vladivostok. So, we approached the Korean Air counter to see what we would do for 30 hours in the airport, Korean Air offered me, THE US citizen a simple hospitality room free for the night, but refused the (low-class) russians, I suppose, and this did not sit well with me, and so I went off, THIS IS DISCRIMINATION!!!, my clients deserve better than this insult!!!, how can you put me up for the night, but not my (new found, just met) friends??!!!. I got loud. Within 2 hours, I and four Russians, who I just met, got gratuitous visas to enter South Korea, with limo service to and from the airport, and ***** hotel accommodations at the Inchon Hilton, FREE OF CHARGE. Ian was shocked, that I, not even knowing them, would make such a scene, so that they would be treated just like me, and we then got the royal treatment. (US attorneys screaming discrimination I guess touched a nerve). Ian could not believe I would befriend one so who I had just met. Ian and I will never forget that one. ***** accommodations, three rooms, five people, ON THE HOUSE (korean air), just because the derelict got loud. Korean Air is a first rate carrier, and I only fly with them, transpacific-siberia.

Checking in from Vladivostok, Russia, I first of all want to say again that Midas would not be pleased if here with me on the streets of Vladivostok Russia, mingling with the locals, as they still don’t get that gold/silver is a best real store of money value for ultimate protection from the fiat money games. They have no history of surfs owning bullion personally, I suppose. All still only hold and use paper fiat. That is absolutely crazy!! But that will change, I think. The economy is growing in an apparent linear up trend, as building cranes are still seen every where and are active. My US dollars, once the king of Russian money preservation by commoners, is now TOAST in Russia, and FRNs are now considered trash here. Can you believe that??!! Dollars are even hard to find, NO ONE WANT OUR US BOGUS FIAT DOLLARS for every day trade and money store. Over the last 7 years going to Russia, my dollars have gone down from 31.5 rubbles to 24.5 rubbles to the dollars. In addition to that, prices here are just exploding in Vladivostok, and some real estate, for example, like the purchased condo for "babushka" here, is up 400% in just 5 years, and prices at merchant and grocery stores are up dramatically, as well, and I would guess inflation is running well over 10%.
World wide run away inflation is a REALITY, despite governments' protestations to the contrary, just go shopping and confirm it for yourself. And they cant stop it, the printing presses, until a total fiat collapse and global return to real money as the medium of exchange. US dollars are now very hard to find here, though that is not fully understood why, as mafia and oligarchs must be sucking up all foreign cash from the commoners to fund international activities. Banks don’t have dollars, and simply say "come back tomorrow", and back channels must be used by some to get quantities of greenbacks mostly for China-Russia trade. There is also talk of a Rubble re-evaluation, to slip one or two digits, so that the Rubble is one-something compared to the western fiats, just like the Euro, Loony, and Pound are about one-something to the US dollar. However, there is also talk by commoners of fear growing over a Russian economic collapse. This blew me away, because all indications that I can see and sense are that the Russian economy is doing very well. Maybe the US subprime mess is affecting global banking everywhere, and even affecting the thinking of common Russians. This is wild. Russians understand very well, unlike most Americans, of the consequences of fiat money collapse and loosing your life savings, they have been there and done that twice of late.
Some Russians are beginning to understand that the devalued inflated US dollars and the US created subprime financial crisis are jointly affecting the global mentality as to the fragile nature of the fiat monetary banking regimes. And because Russians see the dollar tanking, (their traditional safe money store, that is no longer the case), and because they do not hold bullion, they are at the mercy of the Russian fiat, (twice collapsed over the last two decades), just like now we Americans are at the mercy of the Greenback fiat (for those who don’t hold sizable bullion positions). Russians are very concerned as they feel they have no place to run and put money and wealth for safety, and hence, the current real estate boom, I suppose, and the beginning of a real estate bubble in Russia, as bubbles are inherent characteristics of fiat economies with 24/7 fiat money printing presses. The overall sentiment seems to be of cautious concern, rightly so. When the Russian real estate bubble burst or tapers off, there will be a gold rush in Russia, and that may be timed to about 2010-11, along with a FRN index of less than 0.5. When the Chinese and Russian commoners jump on the bullion band wagon, look out, Gold will be $2750/oz, and that's an EASY call!
Of personal interest was the plane route from the Los Angeles to Vladivostok, doing the dog leg through Incheon South Korea. Rewind 30 years ago, when the Russians military panicked and shot down Korean Airline flight 103 off of Kamkactka, and then compare that with a fast forward to today, where my flight was routed from LA to SF to AK to the Bering Straight and then over northeast Siberia south to Primorsky (most eastern Russian state) over Harbarosk (on the Chinese-Russia border), then south off Vladivostok, then over the Sea of Japan (avoiding North Korea airspace and coast, which is a good thing, as last year on 7-4-06 NK missiles were launched 500 miles off my tail just then clearing the Sea of Japan over which the NK missiles flew), and into Incheon SK. So now, Korean Air commercial routes fly over Russia, without fear of being shot down, even when not landing in Russia in a mere over fly, and no longer have to over fly Japan in a longer route. I guess Russia wants more business with the west, which is a good thing, and has opened up Russian air space for all commercial air traffic. Things are a changing.
Before New Years, the local Holy Mother of God catholic church here had nightly concerts, one of which I enjoyed, that was just superb. Russians are great at classical performances, none better, in my view. The building and repair of churches in Vladivostok is just astounding, OFF THE CHARTS, considering that the Soviet destroyed the churches for 80 years. There is allot of money in Russia these days, and God's houses are making a huge come back, which is a very good thing, as morality and temperance would do the Russians some good, and they know it.
While the Russians have embraced capitalism, understand that the mafia and oligarchal influences will hold Russia back for decades to come, until democracy is so well permanently in place, that the people will demand and get action against undue influences. First expressions from the locals upon arrival was, "what democracy?, we already know who will win the next election". And they are correct, though I was taken back at this slap at Putin and the on-deck pre-anointed next president Mr. Medvedev. There is some truth to the comment, though I thought Putin's popularity would kill concerns over modest trampling of free speech and free press rights, justified in large measure, of course, because of and during a war of rebellion in Chechnya. However, that rebellion has been sedated for a long time now and there are no known threats directed at Russia to warrant chilling of free speech/press at a time of peace in Russia, save the mafia/oligarchal threats. There is usually no need for such media controls at a time of peace, so, the controls must be to sustain political power, as no other reason for such control seems apparent, excepting political strength retention to combat mafia/oligarchal influences. With significant mafia and oligarchal undue influences in Russia, it may be some time before the Russian government feels safe enough to loosens up on the media controls. Time will tell.
The locals, however, clearly see the duplicity of the Russian Government in getting all upset about foreigners being politically active in Russia, and the duplicity and self-centeredness of Russia's attempt to chill internal criticism and external criticism from external foreigners, as even common Russians, (and this is huge) are beginning to understand that no real lasting harm is done, but only some good, can come from criticism of the Government by anyone, as part of their learning of the democracy culture. We may have café members in the making in Russia! Political science classes are active on the streets and cafes of Russia, full of free thinkers, and they are highly intelligent peoples, and can see think for themselves, which free thinking is the long term death nail of any totalitarian political control. So, while Putin enjoys high popularity for the good economy, national defense, national integrity, and the preservation of the Russian constitution unaltered so as to retain limits on presidential terms, common Russians are starting to think for themselves and surprisingly understand that free speech/press of both internal and external sources is a good thing in a democracy so that political power is not locked up. Things are a changing in the Russias.
Putin's media controls for his 8 years, over all may be considered a good thing for Russia and the world, to maintain stability here, but now, it may be time to lighten up the media controls a little, as common Russians adopt the democracy culture. In my last communication to Putin, I advised that he as the next PM and the new to-be president Mr. Medvedev should push free press/speech so as to cement Putin's legacy as a great Russian president/PM. I know he got the message, as it was sent to him personally, and google hits of that open letter of congratulations for 8 good years, is off the charts here in Russia. So, while Russia still has a way to go with that very tricky free speech/press thing, its still a democracy, (thanks to Putin's selflessness in some measure). Though just barely, Russia is still a democracy, and that will be enough to sustain Russia over the decades to come as the Russians learn the democracy culture, which is, in the long run, a very very good thing.
While I have heard much coming from the US Government over the Russian media controls, no doubt following President Putin's mandates, I have been skeptical. I mean, if you can get the liberal BBC on commercial TV, and the conservative OREILLY FACTOR through dish reception, and with the entire internet being unblocked, then, one would not believe in such asserted media controls. Right? Well not so fast. Since my last trip, I can no longer find the BBC on commercial broadcast, and CNN/Fox News are no longer the channels of choice in private clubs, and hence, from very casual observations, it seems that the media is being controlled, though this would be, in the long run, a futile effort by any government, as China will eventually learn, as well. Information like water will eventually find any crack in any barrier.
It appears that the BBC was replaced with a Russian version of CNBC/Bloomberg. It was so peculiar to see the bottom screen ticker of Russian stocks shown in Russian Cyrillic letters. They also quote global interest rates, currency conversions, and stock prices on the big internationals and domestic giants. Russia has joined the world economy in spades. I also saw gold quoted as over 820/oz again, quoted in dollars. This was wild!! This is the first time in all my trips, that GOLD is being quoted on NATIONAL NEWS every day!! This is huge!! My impressions are that the Russians are really getting into this money making capitalism thing, with Gold now quoted on Russian TV, (which is a signal that it is OK to own gold), even if they still possess soviet style socialistic cultural tendencies, just like modern China does. So, in the Russia just like in China and Japan and around the world, (except the US), the government signals are to slowly open up the GOLD buy window to the common Russians. As a real money global economy is projected, private ownership of GOLD bullion places ultimate economic power in the hands of the people of the domestic economy. Switching to money making with right to possess GOLD for wealth retention, with increased productivity and abundance, seems to be much easier, than revamping the political totalitarian structures, as that would involve dethroning the existing power structures, and so, the Russian and Chinese adoption of full democratic principles will take much longer to adopt, but adopt they all will, as night follows day, as the forces of the common people will demand it over time, as the only real way to keep a long term handle and control on internal civility and orderly political evolution, in this democracy century. Gold is daily quoted on Russian TV, WOW!!, things are changing.
Just now only freezing with a light dusting of snow on the ground, but that will change in two days, as New Years should bring in 3 feet of new snow and -20C temperatures (that is about 0F), and for a So-Cal Laguna Tuna, that is COLD!!! But that's ok, 2007 is going out in fine style, with Silver over 14/oz and Gold over 820/oz!!!! That is huge. Bullion is doing just fine and will go much much higher. I recall so well buying gold at 270/oz, and then discovering Midas' magical words with the right-on bullion analysis over these last several years, to now be sitting on a nice little hoard of economic protection from the pending global fiat collapses. From all I have seen and now project, 2008 should be one great year for bullion with increasing fiat inflation, financial uncertainty, and depressed miners, as millions around the world enter a gold-rush.

One can go to the bank of Russia and apparently buy gold bars, of course, ID would be required, I suppose. Indications are that for years, Russians can buy gold, but is heavily taxed, and not a good investment, or so said, from information and belief, the Russian Government, as they make it legal, but discourage owning it. Maybe the Cartel has a presence in the Kremlin, I doubt it, but rather, gold in the hands of the people, is inconsistent with the culture of totalitarian control. The free and fair vote and bullion in the hands of the people, PUTS real power in the hands of the people. So maybe gold ownership is discourage, Im just not sure.

Many in Russia are convinced that Russia will soon default on international obligations, that will tank the infant Russian economy, and this may have something to do with the US spreading its monetized subprime loans about the world. I am just not sure. There are many young Russian who are captivated by the high living standards of the west, and with the current state of affairs in Russia, still look to leave Russia. What they really need is morality and need a sense that they really do have a voice in government and Russia has good future. It is such a sad thing to hear and see citizens just give up all hope, and want to leave, what is perceived by some as a sinking ship, though I see it differently, but then, Im a futurist. They have no vision of the future, only a knowledge of a dissatisfying recent past when switching to new economics. And so, I confront them on this, their cowardliness. I say, why don’t you stay in Russia, and make Russia strong, its your country, build it up, make it powerful, get off your butt, do something, go get employed and get out on the street and become politically active, and make Russia better!! The world need YOU to do this. However, with a history of tsarzs, politburo and media-controlling presidents, they feel hopeless in doing anything that would make a difference. They have a long way to go with the democracy culture, and CONFIDENCE in the future is needed, and this is why, Putin's actions of the fishing trip, arctic flag, bomber missions, etc, really is a good thing for Russia, as Putin's gets more high marks for his good leadership. But, lack of confidence by common young Russians is no excuse to do nothing and sit on the ground and only cry, as I poke my finger forcefully into their chests, telling them they are bad Russians, mere cowards. They have a long way to go to fully understand and practice the democracy culture, and develop that sense of optimism that inherently comes within a democracy and having a voice.
So, Russia is, from a US perspective, still a basket case, in several regards, but there is much hope and promise in the future, in my view, as things are improving, and I do see it going in the right direction, be it very slow, in deed. Russia must emerge as a strong economic democratic power to ensure continued interconnectiveness and world peace and trade. I am pulling big time for the Russians to have a much better future, because, in so doing, our world, including the US, becomes safer and more prosperous for all, in the long run. So, even though there is the need to build democratic institutions and culture, there are problems that will slow down rapid democratic development. The problems include: 1) centralized political control through media control, 2) mafia influences, 3) government corruption, 4) concentration of economic power in the oligarchs, 5) a lack of understanding and practice of full democratic principles, 6) a willingness to put oneself on the line and get out and campaign for change and reform, 7) a lack of confidence in the future, and 8) lack of government transparency. These are significant problems, for sure, but they are classical problems that can be solved over time. Centralized political control may be needed in some measure and for some time to come, ONLY IF justified to combat serious mafia, corruption, and oligarchal undue influences. For example, Putin did throw in jail Mikhail durokowski (?) the YukoOil oligarch for alleged tax evasion, and could not have done so, if weak, even though the scuttle-butt is that it was done to prevent him from unduly influencing Russian politics and elections. May be so. One never really knows, of course. But this seems to make some sense, if true. Putin and his heir-apparent have substantial problems to solve, and, it may just be necessary to maintain a mild lock down on political power sacrificing pure democratic principals, to maintain stability for the short term. As such, limitations of the press and speech may be used to maintain political power and sustain internal stability, in the face of and ONLY justified by these significant problems.
This is similar to China. An abrupt move to democracy would cause much chaos in China, as it would go up in flames, especially with internal rebellion in Buddhist Tibet and Muslim Xingxang (?), and the slaughter of millions that would necessarily follow. The Chinese need to build up democracy functions from the ground up, local, city, state, and eventually to the national government, and this would necessarily take decades to accomplish. In Russia, the same kind of considerations are needed, but the problems are not rebellion anymore, thanks to Putin's black flag approach in Chechnya, a very good thing, (another great Putin success), but from internal corruption, mafia, and oligarchal undue influences. One must pick the battles one can win, and do it, one at a time, for assured success. Russia needs a Robert Kennedy to come along and go after the mafia big time, and Russia needs a John Edwards (and I hereby offer to buy the plane ticket, LOL, if he promises to stay indefinitely) spewing his class warfare crap to limit the oligarchs with some need for wealth redistribution and the building of industry that favors more the workers than the owners, and Russia needs a Thomas Jefferson to pound a shoe (like Nekita Kruchev re the Cuban missile crisis) on the table to motivate the Russians to get involved in politics, to build pride in Russia, and help sustain and improve democratic functions and culture. Also, the down stream good affects of the concurrent resurrection of the Churches is Russia, can not be understated. All countries, to be prosperous, must have a majority core of righteous procreating moral citizens, or the whole civilization structure collapses into one gigantic devastated corrupt decadent gay parade. I have no clue who in the Russian government gave the go ahead to rebuild the churches, but Putin must have sanctioned it, and as such, Putin, or someone, (as well as God), should get the HERO OF SOVIET UNION metal of honor (highest Soviet award, as I don’t know what is the modern equivalent for the Russian Federation of all the Russias), for authorizing the building and repair of churches, as that one single move will do more to help Russia in the out years than ANY OTHER MOVE MADE! Trust me on this one. This is yet, in my view, another feather in Putin's Chapka (fur hat), and in my view, the guy really does now have an indian head dress of accolades (for a Russian, of course).
When Medvedeva gets elected as President, (already considered a done deal), the theme of letters to Putin as PM and the Russia ministers will be to progressively tax the oligarchs and force them to license technology and build high-class industry with high paying jobs for the common Russians, and also letters to Putin and Medvedevas to encourage political activism within the Putin's political party or other parties as well, so that, at least, there is retained substantial public debate on issues of national importance. Medvedeva and Putin also need to find a good finance minister to further develop manufacturing and service industries, such has opening a world class auto manufacturing company, using the petrol-rubbles. Good abundant jobs are still very short in Russia, and the economy needs to reinvest the petrol-rubbles into building world-class industries, to get money in the hands of the commoners and improve living standards. But these problems are conventional ones that can be solved, and easier to solve, when Russia retains a strong centralized political power, for only the short term, during which, democratic principles and practices will continue to grow, slow but sure, while combating undue influences.
Both Russia and China, I believe do not let their printed fiat money outside the country. Customs officers always confiscate any rubbles I have upon departure. When a Russian wishes to do business on a small level with another in a different country, currency conversion within Russia is first needed, and hence, the need for foreign currencies, as well to procure materials from international markets. What the Russian and Chinese commoners need to do is to privately hold bullion, in case the whole fiat money complex comes crashing down, which is very possible these days. So, I will also encourage that taxes on gold capital gains be reduced, so as to put bullion and inherent economic power in the hands of the common folks, in another modest redistribution of wealth.
I will be further advising Putin and Medvedeva to very very slowly relax the media controls, only so far as to sustain that centralized power necessary to take on the mafia, oligarchs, and rapidly further build the Russian economy. They really do need a good jump-start, to get over the hump from the switch from communism to capitalism that trickles down wealth to the common folks. That is, in stead of publicly saying that foreign influences are the cause of all evil, which it is not, the justification for a strong government comes from the need of combating internal corruption and undue influences, and hence, the need to control the media in some ways, as only a short term measure. This would be changed of course, over time, as the populace matures into the democracy culture, but the objective is a good one, defeat organized crime, corruption, and concentrated economic power lock downs, while improving democratic functions concurrently, and hence the trade off. Sure, from the American/Bush perspective, political controls on speech/press are inherently bad (for a mature and relatively problem free government and society), we all get that, as the US does not have the REALLY BIG problems that Russia has, as that infant democracy faces significant challenges just to get its own house in a good order. However, as long as there is some public political debate, (and there is much), even though mostly concentrated within one main political party, that debate can not be stopped in total, and there are elections, even though somewhat inherently unfair, it nonetheless furthers at a snail pace the development of democratic principles, and in the long run, will work out just fine, to which I am very confident. So, the US Government should be little more tolerant of the "Russian Styled Democracy", at this point in time in Russian cultural development, and just be a little patient, and help Russia fight international crime and internal mafia, as well as help Russia to force the Oligarchs to develop high paying good jobs in improving the technology and industry, by licensing good US technology for very modest profits, an example that comes to mind was the development of a Boeing plant in Russia, though I don’t know how that is going.
From an American perspective, we should not be selfish, we have so much more than most, and hide behind protectionism, but rather, should now throw out illegals and stop illegal immigration to improve low end pay in the US, while seeking increased, not reduced, world trade, that overall, has a net sum gain in the US. And in seeking further trade, give the Russians generous terms to license US technology, without fear of a cold war, but rather, to help raise up Russia to fully exploit its petrol-rubbles. The goal is to get the Russian economy firing on all cylinders while promoting, within reason, democratic principles, in the face of undue influences. As the CONFLUENCE marches on, all CORE members should elevate their economies so that all trade within increased interconnectiveness, thereby avoiding the suspicions and power grabs through war characteristic of the 20th century, a dark time for mankind. The US can not significantly advance its economy, unless the US develops high-tech open markets around the world, that is, the US economy, which is becoming more and more an international economy, is inherently limited unless the US develops more customers and trade. The US can go no higher in living standards, unless the rest of world is brought up for our further exploitation. Many Americans are afraid, naturally so, of the changes occurring, and the uncertainties, and the movement of jobs off shores, yet, when the net sum is consider in total, the US economy will find more customers and will develop robust international trade, for increase prosperity and so as to join the world against naked agression by rouge countries seeking war. The 21st century, the democracy century, is going be a very good one, I believe, as world trade continues to grow, as the core of interconnected countries grows in abundance and prosperity. Sure, I know its scary and uncertain, especially with the banksters peddling their bogus monetized bonds while pushing the fiat money crap, but world problems can be solved, if we as a world community pull together and help each other, for the collective gain of all.

Yesterday, it dumped two feet of snow, so it’s going to be white new years. Today, 12/30, is Vanya's (Ivan) birthday, by now 3yo. Im so jealous, at three, he can switch hit between speaking Russian and English, at the drop of hat.
