"A major wave of extreme bad Bush karma is headed our way"

So said every presidential political opponent in this country since day one, its our right to complain against the president. If you are not complaining, you aint much of an American, now are you?

Lincoln was the original gorrilla, denying habeas corpus, locking people up for years without due process, waging an unwinable war, etc etc, and Lincoln had the copperheads, as well, no difference in my view.

But I hope that bad karma includes, shoot to kill orders on the southern borders.

The USD is about to crash and burn and the whole paper debt trading system will lock up and die.

that is a good thing in my book
===================
What do you think the US has become?

Sadly, a quasi socialistic state, led by the gov-care pandering left, and followed by the bailout bankster right. I dont like it one bit. I want to abolish the FED, IRS, FIAT, NATIONAL DEBT, and all social services save only soup kitchens, medical clinics, and temporary shelters.

But I am not king or your God.
Would any of you rebell and corinate me?
Xerxie in 300,
I am a kind God,
Your king required you to stand,
I only require you to kneel.

But those 300 stood up to Persian domination to maintain their freedom and projected Athenian democracy world wide.

They had a war king, who saved democracy.
A good thing.

And that is why, its HERO BUSH, in my eyes.

In many decades to come, Islam will look back, and thank Bush for their freedom from centuries of social stagnation and for democracy, the only true way to defeat islamofascism.

President Bush, HERO Bush, my Beloved president

Send out a public address to the Russian People, STRIKE WHILE THE IRON IS HOT. Here are your talking points.

Russia had every right to defeat the Chechnya Rebellion and stop terror in Russia, as the WEST does not seek to break up Russia but rather seeks to maintain Russia's borders, but equally, Russia has no rigth to attempt to break up Georgia a democratically elected state and government.  Russia should join the West and ensure human and political right to all inhabitants of Ossetia, and that the Georgian Government must protect all those who live in Ossetia. This should be the mutual desires of all. Moscow's desire to have Ossetia decide its future by a provincial only vote, is a false proposition, as it implies that even Chechnya could vote to leave Russia. What would be required in an true democracy is a super majority of the whole that must vote in favor of partition to give that proposed partition democratic legitimacy.

The US seeks to fully integrate Russia into all of the world affairs, including equal membership in NATO, WTO, UN, G7, etc etc. We want Russia to prosper and gain economically and become reliable energy provider in mutual trade. We want to be good friends, good trading partners, all supporting basic human and political rights world wide.

By placing Interceptors in Poland, we assert a purely defensive move to be able to shoot down rogue missiles, and hence, would like to co-operate with MOSCOW in extending missile protection to Western Russia Airspace, to enhance our mutual security arrangement, especially in these days of Islamofascism.

By integrating Ukraine and Georgia into NATO, we merely seek mutual defensive arrangements. We hope that Russia would embrace this mutual defensive posture and join with the West and more fully integrate into Europe, as well as NATO, in time, as an equal and respected member of the civilized world.

We hope, that over time, Russia's cultural affinity to strong-man rule will give way to pure democratic ideals, and join the West in promoting human and political rights world wide.

GO GET EM BOSS!!!!!

My Conclusions:

First of all, Russians do regard N & S Ossetia as one country, despite the fact that Stalin drew the dividing line. So, the soviet called S Ossetia as being in Georgia, but was of no import, as both N & S Ossetia were under soviet control, however, after the soviet break up, the UN and all called S Ossetia and in georgia per the soviet bordary lines drawn, when Russia was weak, the US call it Georgia despite strong ethnic relations to N Ossetia in Russia proper.

The Georgians SUCKER punched the Russians, when they were not looking, and killed people there, JUST TO DRAW the Bear in, so that, Georgia could politically rally NATO support. IT WORKED, then the georgians back peddled quickly, and the Russian follow them up, like any good field commanders would, when the route in on.

However, that is exactly what the georgians wanted, to get the Russian bear close to the BTC pipeline, and hence, stir up Europe, and especially the US being paranoid about possible Russian expansion, and IT WORKED.

The US, always eager to exploit a pro-west situation, took it and ran with it, the poor Georgians being beat up by the big bad imperialistic Russian bear, and in large measure, Georgia as well as the US were politically sucessful, Ukraine and Georgia will become NATO nations.

The Georgians played Putin like a fool, Putin had to act to prevent the killing, and to prevent losing face, Putin was probably really mad, and did not stop his tanks until well outside Ossetia, and that was his political mistake. Had he just secure Ossetia, and no more, he would have popular global support, but because he went to far, he got the opposite. HENCE, Putin over played his hand.

The Georgains are the evil ones here, they suckered punched the Russians when they were not looking, for political gain, to rally Western Europe support, Putin is actually clean here, but Putin got screwed in public opinion, but all is fair in love and war, and as long as Putin does not allow free and fair political debate on Russian TV, I have no sympathy for him. Lawfully, I got to go with the UN recognized border. The Russians should eventually clear out, but Gerogia must also guarrantee S Ossetians their rights and equal protection.

But while that is the bottom lines, the Georgians appear to be at fault, play putin and NATO as fools, sucker punching the Russians, and running behind NATO skirts. Master Stroke, if you ask me, a brillent power play by the Georgians, play both sides for the fools, with very BIG BALLS by the Georgian President.

Dang pretty close:
Presentation of South Ossetia
Status: Self-proclaimed independence from Georgia, which whom conflict continues.

Despite their loyalty to the Soviet state, Communist divide-and-rule policies dictated the division of Ossetians lands into two regions. A North Ossetian Autonomous Region was created in 1924, two years after a South Ossetian Autonomous Region. To further complicate matters (as it was surely intended to), North Ossetia was part of Russia and South Ossetia part of Georgia.
This ethnic time-bomb duly exploded when Georgia became a separate state. Ossetians in South Ossetia, desiring union with their kinsmen in the north, declared their republic a part of Russia rather than Georgia in 1989. A year later (Georgia having abolished the autonomous status of the region) South Ossetia declared independence and armed conflict, which has still not been resolved, erupted.
The Ossetians are said to be descendents of the Sarmatians, a Central Asiatic people who migrated westwards into the region in the VIIth century BC.

Stuart Notholt, 5 October1995

The historical homeland of Ossetian people is and can be only so called North Ossetia or simply Ossetia (local name Alania). There are almost inaccessible mountains on its south (higher than Mont Blanc) and it is quite impossible for a people to form on both slopes of such range.
Only about a few centuries ago, some tribes of Ossetians, pursued by their stronger Muslim neighbours, began to move through Caucasus range, looking for a safer place.
Historically, there has never been some Ossetian state.

The territory of present-day South Ossetia always belonged to Georgia and in many conquests always shared the fate of neighbouring Georgian territories.

Before Bolshevik revolution in Russia nobody used the term "South Ossetia" and it was always regarded as part of Kartli, one of main historical regions of Georgia. However, the Georgian population in that hostile mountain territory was sparse, so Ossetians who had no choice became the majority there during the XIXth and XXth centuries. This was the reason to proclame first an autonomous region and then, after the collapse of USSR, a republic.

But, in any case, it was not some kind of deliberate decision "intended to complicate matters" and create inter-ethnic tensions or example of "divide-and-rule policies" simply because there was nothing to divide.

Alexander Morozov, 6 May 1999
===================
After the 1917 February Revolution that ousted Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, the Ossetians set up a National Council of Ossetians which convened in Java in June 1917 and advocated the creation of organs of self-rule in Ossetian-inhabited areas on the both sides of the Caucasus. The Council was internally divided along the ideological lines and soon became dominated by the Bolsheviks who called for the incorporation of South Ossetia into Soviet Russia.

Already in February 1918, there were numerous outbreaks of disobedience among the Ossetian peasants who refused to pay taxes to the Tiflis-based Transcaucasus government. On March 15, 1918, the Ossetian peasants rose in rebellion and managed to hold off an offensive by a Georgian People’s Guard punitive detachment commanded by an ethnic Ossetian officer, Kosta Kaziev. The fighting culminated in the town of Tskhinvali which was raided by the rebels on March 19, 1918. Tskhinvali’s Georgian population was massacred and the town was looted. The People’s Guard regained the control of Tskhinvali on March 22. The uprising was finally suppressed and harsh repressive measures established in the region, generating resentment against the Mensheviks, being now equated, in the eyes of the Ossetians, with Georgians. This also opened the way for strong pro-Bolshevik sentiments among the Ossetians.

In October 1919, revolts against the Mensheviks broke out again in several areas. On October 23, rebels in the Roki area proclaimed the establishment of Soviet power and began advancing toward Tskhinvali, but suffered defeat and retreated in the Soviet-controlled Terek district.

The year 1919 also saw a series of fruitless discussions concerning the status and governance of the region. Ossetians demanded a degree of autonomy comparable with the one granted to the Abkhazians and Muslim Georgians in Adjara. However, no final decision was made, and the Georgian government outlawed the National Council of South Ossetia, a Bolshevik-dominated body, and refused any grant of autonomy. Bolsheviks fully exploited the tensions and the Menshevik mistakes to further strengthen their influence among the Ossetians.

In 1920, a much larger Ossetian uprising took place, which was supported by the regional committee of the Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks) (RCP (b)), which had gathered a military force in Vladikavkaz, the capital of modern-day Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, Russian Federation. Despite assurance of respecting Georgia’s territorial integrity in the Treaty of Moscow of May 7 1920, Soviet Russia demanded Georgia call back its troops from Ossetia. On May 8, the Ossetians declared a Soviet republic in the Roki area on the Russian-Georgian border. A Bolshevik force from Vladikavkaz crossed into Georgia and helped the local rebels to defeat a Georgian force in the Java district. The rebellious areas were effectively incorporated into Soviet Russia. However, Lenin’s desire to keep peace with Georgia at that time and eventual military failures of the rebels forced the Bolsheviks to distance themselves from the Ossetian struggle. The Georgian People’s Guard under Valiko Jugheli crashed the revolt with great violence. The insurgents were defeated in a series of hard-fought battles. Several villages were burned down and some 3,000 to 7,000 were killed during the hostilities.[4] About 20,000 Ossetians were forced to seek refuge in Soviet Russia.

In February 1921, many Ossetians joined the advancing Red Army which brought Georgia’s independence to an end. In April 1922, newly established Soviet Georgian government rewarded the Ossetian service with the establishment of the South Ossetian Autonomous Oblast which included not only Ossetian and mixed Georgian-Ossetian, but also purely Georgian villages and had Tskhinvali, where the Ossetians were in minority at that time, as its capital.

Despite this bloody conflict and painful memories left by it, the relations between Georgians and Ossetians remained peaceful throughout the Soviet period in contrast to Georgia’s other ethnic troublespot, Abkhazia, where ethnic discord was much more profound and potentially inflammable.

With the rising of ethnic tensions in South Ossetia in the late 1980s, the 1918-20 thematic surfaced again, with conflicting narratives and interpretations of the conflict. The South Ossetians consider those events as part of their struggle for self-determination and claim that the Georgian reaction to the uprisings was genocide. According to their version, 387 men, 172 women, and 110 children were killed in action or massacred; 1206 men, 1203 women, and 1732 children died during flight. The total fatalities amounted to 4812 or 5279 by another source, i.e., 6-8% of the region’s total Ossetian population. The depopulated Ossetian villages were allegedly occupied by their Georgian neighbors from the Dusheti and K'azbegi districts. On September 20, 1990, People's Deputies' Council of South Ossetian Autonomous Oblast characterized conflict as Ossetian Genocide by the Democratic Republic of Georgia. Similar resolutions have been made by North Ossetia and some other republics of Russia’s Northern Caucasus.

Georgians deny the accusations and consider the figures exaggerated. While not denying the brutality of the fighting, they view the conflict as the first attempt by Russia to destabilize Georgia by encouraging South Ossetia to secede and explain the severity of Georgian reaction by the Ossetian pillage of Tskhinvali and the Bolsheviks’ role in the events.

===============
1) South Ossetia has always been considered within the territory of Georgia.
2) The soviets created two autonimous regions, N & S Ossetia.
3) Ossetia was never a country.

South Ossetia is in Georgia. The long standing "autonimity" can be politically translated into "STATE RIGHTS", meaning that they can elect local officials and have local laws, which are not contrary to Georgian government rule. Peacekeeper and monitors should be deployed to keep the peace and to promote Ossetia's political involvement in Georgia while protecting their HUMAN rights.

The Georgian sucker punch is the way both sides have acted over the last 100 years.
=================================
In the US we have Indian Reservation, which are quasi autonimous areas. On the Reservations the Indian can have their own local customs and laws, but when interface with the US, come under state and federal jurisdiction, by treaty. In this day and age, such treaties can create problems. But there is the conflict. Russian Peacekeepers and NATO political montiors to sedate the area and start a path of inclusive nationality and co-existance without the killing.

This Ossetia has been a 100 year problem, but with the world focus, a political solution can be found, and this focus is part of the CONFLUENCE.
==================
Schroeder blames ‘gambler’ Saakashvili for conflict
The former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder has blamed Georgia for starting the conflict in South Ossetia and described its President as a “gambler”. In an interview with the German magazine Der Spiegel, he criticised President Mikhail Saakashvili and warned against speeding up the country's accession to NATO.

"Imagine that we had been forced into military action on the side of Georgia as a NATO member, on the side of an obvious gambler, as one must describe Saakashvili," he said.

"I don't believe Russia is pursuing a policy of annexation and I also don't believe that there will be a return to the previous status quo for South Ossetia and Abkhazia. That is out of the question."

Schroeder told the influential magazine that the events shouldn't undermine Germany's strategic partnership with Russia and claimed Western governments had made “serious errors” in their dealings with Moscow.

"I think little of demonizing Russia, and I believe Moscow will soon see the need for greater integration into the international community," he said.

The Former Chancellor has close links with Russia and is Chairman of the German-Russian consortium building a gas pipeline under the Baltic.

2750/oz by the 2010-11 winter season,

As you and the cafe regulars are aware, I maintain a thread in OFF TOPIC explaining the GLOBAL CONFLUENCE that leads to interconnectedness between all nations that will lead to the demise of the dollar when WAR and FIAT is replaced by TRADE and GOLD as the new means of global power plays in the out years. Fiat's demise is part of the confluence. Its inevitable. This day, Bix posted a ROAD TO ROOTA VIII bit wherein he declares that the fiat's inevitable doom is imminent. In December 05, you posted on LeMenu my bit "The US Government is Preparing for 2010 FRN Collapse". Bix is jumping the gun here, a 0.50 dollar index is expected in a first grand wave of devaluation of the FRN in about two years when the effects of this fall's bail outs are fully priced into the market. Gold was projected then to 2750/oz in the 2010-11 winter season. Fannie and Freddie will provide a downward push in Fiat, but the fireworks are still two years off, but is still on schedule. Recently, you posted two of my LeMenu Posts, "Goldman Sachs will push gold to the moon", wherein it was stated that GS's level three CDO 60B write offs have not been realized, and that this fall, the government will explode the fiat supply to stabilize housing and the banks, and that GS, is reducing its short AU position, with the government effectively bailing out GS through massive fiat injections to stabilize housing thus saving GS from writing off BILLIONS just in time. GS's stock is being downgraded and is lower is just two weeks after your posting of those GS Le Patron Memos. Fiat tanking, GS going long of gold, and the pending massive fiat housing injections are precurors to the predicted target, which has been on schedule three year running to 2750/oz by the 2010-11 winter season.

US and Iraq is getting closer to a PULL OUT agreement, which is what most want, but I suppose with will be a long drawn out PUL OUT lasting years, but that's ok.
PULL OUT and GET PUT in Afgahistan. I disagree with those who say that Afgahistan is unwinable. Using 20 century soviet tanks and helicopters I would agree, but the US modern army has allot of toys, predator drones, for example, and with Iraq calming down, forces are avaiable, and toys are improving rapidly. The Pakistan Government will be forced, rathern than requested, to crack down on Taliban and Al Queda remnance in with west pakie-land.
==================
OK, lets take stock.
Iraq was difficult, but VICTORY WON.
Afgahnistan has been low level, but continuous,
Iran, is up, blockade ANY DAY! (Cant Wait)

Al Queda blasts in Algeria
Taliban strikes in Pakiestand and Afgahnistan
Europe and US and RUSSIA are having less attacks.
China its own terrorist as well, but contained.
India is struck repeatedly, but India is next to Pakistan.

The OBVIOUS conclusion is that, TERROR is being confined to its source locations, by and large, a good thing, which TERROR will in time offend most of those there, and public opinion will go against TERROR, even in Pakistan. Slowly but surely, the war on Terror is being won. Push Democratic Reforms whilst giving the islamofascists no quarter, and that means, US STIRKES in West Pakistan, with or without Paksitan's approval.

Massive Short Squeeze

An inverse bubble in bullion has been inflated ready for the big bang, with a pending surging upward price in bullion. The engineered sell off in the paper futures market has created a short term $200/oz inverse bubble, ready to pop and to propel gold back to and over $1000/oz this year. An inverse bubble is a manipulative depressive short-selling bubble driving prices down, indicated by higher retail prices and massive manipulative short position. All manipulative inverse bubbles surely go POP! But When? I would suggest that all double down on their legal tender bullion bets, (if you can buy any bullion legal tender coins about the retail market). There are rumors floating of a big major bank failure. Some big banks have massive silver and gold short positions. If a major bank massively shorting bullion fails, that will be per se bullion positive, but, in liquidating bad positions of that failed bank, massive short covering proceeds leading to not only a POP of the manipulative inverse bubble and recapture of $1000/oz-Au $20/oz-Ag levels, but also to the mother of all bullion short squeezes, propelling gold to $2000/oz-Au and $40/oz-Ag, and possibly this fall. Legal Tender Bullion coins offer the best protection for small investors, by having sound real money, with legal tender money in your possession, to take advantage of upwardly moving bullion prices yet recognized for IRA holdings and wealth retention. If you wish to protect your wealth and savings, and get in on the pending killing in bullion, dont be out of the bullion market during the up coming massive short squeeze.

With low furtures prices and higer retail prices,
should not miners start Minting their own coins, like PAN American? Or produce Blanks for Mints. Or start pouring 100oz bars, with serial number and their tradenames emprinted thereon, for direct sales to dealers and the retail sales to the public, and forget the manipulated paper futures market.
==========
"Pakistani troops backed by helicopter gunships engaged in a fierce battle with militants in Swat on Saturday, leaving 37 insurgents and two soldiers dead, said army spokesman Maj. Nasir Ali.

No militants in the area were immediately available to confirm the fighting or casualties on their side."

I wonder why? There has been no declaration from ruling pakies yet about the militants indicating that main-stream pakies still want to control militancy. Pakieland is not lost, the war on terror continued, there in a mulsim land, killing each other. That cant last. The War on terror is a done deal, the islamofascists are conered in muslim lands, and they all will tier of it. The war on terror kills allot more muslims that anyone else.
====================
This is why your CDE shares are in the tank.

If silver was $50/oz, like it should be, you all would be happy and more important, CORRECT investors, seeking leverage in the miners, based upon VERY SOUND FUNDAMENTALS. But fundamentals and TA, dont count in a heavily manipulated markets.

But the US-FED lead cartel is suppressing CDE's product cash value.

YOU ALL BLAME CEO WHEELER, what a freaking joke!!

If you want to blame someone, for CDE's bad performance of late, start with President Wilson, and the FED creation sticking us with FIAT, Rosevelt for trying to take our gold, and Nixon separating fiat from bullion, so that FIAT can be controlled exclusively by the US-FED lead cartel. Its called, politely, INTERVENTION, and is enabled by the president's working group. And throw in Ronald Reagan for creating the President Working group, in what 1988 after the 87 crash. And throw in Congress for granting the FED and Treasury more power to bail out the banksters, and control the markets.

ITS CALLED MARKET SOCIALISM.
Controlled Markets, not Free Markets

This is just stunning. The Au and Ag concentrated short positions, 80% owns by a few bullion banks, perninial shorts, prima facie manipulation, but that just PRIMA FACIE proof, when you look at the GREAT JULY-AUGUST 08 raid, 2 US BANKS increased Ag Short 169Moz and Silver dives 7$/oz, then 3 US BANKS increased Au Short 8Moz and Gold dives 150$/oz.

IT CANT BE MORE PROVEN THAN THAT!!!!!
Ted Butler's Smoking Gun.

However, in the grand scheme of things, fiat gave the US excessive political and military power to civilize the world, through inflation, but now that the global confluence is nearly done, it is time to think about collapsing fiat globally, and go back to real money usage, and replace WAR and FIAT with TRADE and GOLD, the long term outcome of US Fiat usage, and during the transistion,

YOU HAD BETTER HAVE SOME GOLD, SILVER, and MINE shares to protect yourself.
FREEDOM:

GOD GOLD GUNS LAND and VOTE.

FIAT aint included, its how the government enslaves us all, creates federal power in a power lust, creating a tax regime based upon ever expanding debt in the face of inflation from fiat use, enslaving us all. FIAT is the MATRIX connection to have you all work for government, rather than, the government working for you.

Why does anyone in their right mind expect the SEC to do its job and regulate unlawful naked shorting, or concentrated manipulation, or fraudulent pooling of  shares in brokers' possession enabling the same using investors' shares against them, and loaning, swapping and leasing bullion bank gold, and using your SLV and GLD and miner naked shares, to short the market, when all support FIAT use? It aint going happen. The only way to defeat the MAD MONEY at CNBC and in the halls of congress, if for the people to take back their freedom, and for the folks to wake up to FIAT robbery, and buy GOLD and SILVER, and bust the cartel.

ABOLISH the FED, IRS, FIAT, and the NATIONAL DEBT!!!!! and be FREE AGAIN!!!

Freedom's Bells,

GOD, the secular progressive want a humanistic religion, where GOD becomes GOV, with leftist gov-care, to believe in GOV

GUNS, a barrier to gov squashing of rights, attempted through gun control, so that ONLY the state has police power

So, Russian President Medvedev recognizes Abakazi and Ossetia in Northern Georgia as independent nations, and call upon the world nations to likewise recognize them as independent states. Of course, this would allow Russia to permenantly occupy those states. The SOVIETS ARE BACK, but rather muted I would say. So the world is focused on resolving these territories which are good for the CONFLUENCE, though Russia's recognition is a small step BACKWARDS. How this plays out will be difficult, but Georgian demonstrating for Russian OCCUPATION wont play well throughout all of Europe. Curiously, will Cuba, Venezelia, or Iran move to so recognize? donno I doubt India and China with internal dispute and border problem will go along. So, Russia and perhaps a minority of nation will so recognize, but over the longer term, its bad for Russia's image, but maybe they just dont care, for now.
lets see.
=============
Well, it was not long in coming:
"Russia on Tuesday recognized both territories as independent republics, a move denounced in Georgia and abroad. The regions make up roughly 20 percent of Georgia's territory — and include miles of prime coastline along the Black Sea.

Criticized by the West, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Thursday asked China and four ex-Soviet nations to sign a declaration of support for Russia's role in the conflict in Georgia.

But Russia's hopes of gathering support were dealt a huge blow when the five countries denounced the use of force and called for respect for every country's territorial integrity. The joint declaration from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization deepens Russia's international isolation.

Medvedev had appealed to the alliance — which consists of Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan — for unanimous support of Russia's response to Georgia's "aggression."

Medvedev's appeal had raised fears in Western capitals of the emergence of a competing strategic alliance to NATO forming around Russia — but the other Asian nations may have been reluctant to strain their relations with Europe and the United States."

China, with its own domestic problems want no part of encouraging "break away" provinces, such as in Tibet and Xaujang. So, there ya go, RUSSIA stuck it foot in its mouth, and will be embarrassed world wide. This is not good for COMMRAD PUTIN.
==============
Yeap, for the exact reason I said:
Medvedev also discussed the situation in Georgia's breakaway regions with Chinese President Hu Jintao. China has traditionally been wary of supporting separatist movements, mindful of its own problems with Tibet and Muslims in the western territory of Xinjiang.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang was quoted by state news agency Xinhua as saying "the situation in the region ... should be resolved in dialogue."

There ya go, russkie bear out on a limb, all by itself, but I am sure Cuba will rally to their standard. ON THE FLOOR!!!

So my friends, china US EU et al. condemation of Russia for its move into Georgia is part of the GLOBAL CONFLUENCE, where core members (US EU RUSSIA CHINA INDIA JAPAN AUSTRALLIA, etc) restrain an arrant CORE MEMBER (in this case, russia) using negative feedback in the global context. This was referenced in the ORIGINAL THESIS at the beginning of this tread. Here is the quote:

The global confluence has its roots in God. Here, the USA morality has lead the world. No one can honesty believe, the USA is in Iraq to take their oil from them. The USA can buy as much oil as needed, as oil is a fungible commodity. The USA has not sought empire building in a fully occupied world, though that only stopped after completing of our manifest destiny, the expansion to the west coast of the USA, just as the Russians expanded through their far east to the coast of North America. Hitler, Imperial Japan, and Stalin are the modern exceptions of course, operating from selfish demoniacal desires for global dominance. But with cooperative interactions, coupled with mutual defense, with globalization of trade, and with functioning rule sets for dispute resolution, it seems that these exceptions will be contained, <KEY POINT>

by the remaining partners, in the out years and for decades to come. It is the USA morality that has lead the way in recent years. The rise of Christian-Judeo GOD rejection of evil war lords and tyrants, starting at about 300 BC, has been the primary moving force toward civility over the centuries worldwide. And, "Those who can not see the hand of God in this are blind, sir, blind" Brigadier General T.J. Jackson, Valley Campaign, 1862, USA. We should recall how USA President Reagan characterized the soviets as an evil empire, placing the great east-west confrontation in a moral context, consistent with American moral culture.

I feel for Circus Bear, poor guy, got stuck with the face man job, while his butt is razputting.

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan - China and several Central Asian nations rebuffed Russia's hopes of international support for its actions in Georgia, issuing a statement Thursday denouncing the use of force and calling for the respect of every country's territorial integrity.

A joint declaration from the six-member Shanghai Cooperation Organization also offered some support for Russia's "active role in promoting peace" following a cease-fire, but overall it appeared to increase Moscow's international isolation.

Russia's search for support in Asia had raised fears that the alliance would turn the furor over Georgia into a broader confrontation between East and West, pitting the U.S. and Europe against their two main Cold War foes.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev had appealed to the Asian alliance, which is made up of China, Russia and four ex-Soviet Central Asian nations, for unanimous support of Moscow's response to Georgia's "aggression."

But the alliance, which was created in 2001 to improve regional coordination on terrorism and border security, opted to take a neutral position and urged all sides to resolve the conflict through "peaceful dialogue."

"The participants ... underscore the need for respect of the historical and cultural traditions of each country and each people, and for efforts aimed at preserving the unity of the state and its territorial integrity," the alliance's statement said.

None of the other alliance members joined Russia in recognizing the independence claims of Abkhazia and South Ossetia."

This was an IN YOUR FACE slam at Putin, dont take it for anything other than that. Russia will not find friends in the Ex soviet states, (save dictatorial belarus) nor any other country with a territory, border, or serious ethic problem, nor any of the core NATO alliance members, which pretty much leaves, ..... drum roll, yeap, you guessed it!!!

Now Come Putin, draggin his bear tail, crying foul, indicating US may have been instigating the Georgia conflict. HECK YEAH they were, directly or indirectly, to what extent, who knows, but US wanted Georgia in NATO, and the conflict rallied Western Europe to that cause.

"MOSCOW - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin accused the United States on Thursday of instigating the fighting in Georgia and said he suspects a connection to the U.S. presidential campaign — a contention the White House dismissed as "patently false."

In a decision he said was unrelated to unraveling Russia-U.S. ties, Putin also ordered that 19 American poultry producers be barred from selling their products to Russia. He said the unnamed companies ignored demands that they correct alleged deficiencies.

Putin, the former president and architect of an assertive foreign policy that has stoked East-West tension, suggested in an interview with CNN that there was an American presence amid the combat with a potential domestic U.S. political motive."

Hey, Putin must have read my memo!!!

Its Been Fun,

So, at the Bird's Nest,

Putin:I would like the Neuclear business and it took allot of time and hard work to get our reactor qualified there,

Bush: find with me, your new-kle-or plant produces electricity thereby putting more oil on the market, and it would be good of you to keep an eye on things, but get your folks out of the processing plant, quick.

Putin: No problem, our sources say that you were successful in getting the Georgians to move at last,
<KEY POINT>

Bush: Yeah, they are brave just needed a kick in pants, and some more toys, and cover, during the grand parade at the bird's nest, <KEY POINT>

Putin: Well you know I will have to go in and spank hard, my boys have trouble with a wet paper bag, and need the practice,

Bush: I would much appreciate that, McCain needs all the help he can get, <KEY POINT>

Putin: I will probably need to take out a few ships and deplete their arms, a bit, <KEY PIONT, Reports indicate a couple of Georgian ships were actually sunk, purportedly at the port of POTI>

Bush: That's ok, we got plenty to sale them to repatriate the oil dollars they get,

Putin:Ho is going to be pisst with them rose revolutionists though, going off during the grand show,

Bush: Don’t worry about Ho, he is tickled red already with you and I here sitting close together to make him look good, so he wont block our Iranian excursion or your rose excursion,

Putin: Yeah Ho, what a pal, wont block our move into Georgia, Ho is a stand up guy, or a stand down guy, whatever you want, Hey didn’t you like that "maniac with razor blades bit", a while ago,

Bush: that was great, you know, you got a pump up in your domestic polls, I am going to miss my two bestest pals, you and Ho, my time is about up.

Putin: yeah, you Americans got a lously system, limiting executive power to only two terms, I get to come back for a two term redo in six years as papa bear.

Bush: Yeah I know, this democracy thing sucks at times, when you have the world by the balls, oh well, take care buddy,

Putin: Best of luck pal, its been fun.

President Bush, HERO BUSH, my beloved president.

Time to clean out Iran, and last of the axis of evil.

After Russia was rebuffed by asian partners, who want no part of Russia's expansion into Georgia, Russia said it would annex the two Georgian break away provinces. To which, the EU is meeting to discuss possible sanctions against Russia, which in turn, threathen to cut off oil supplies to the EU.  Brinkmanship? OK, but who is pulling the strings here and why. The US is moving naval assets to the persian gulf, two MORE carrier battle groups. A strike on Iran will definitely affect oil supplies and prices, but the move MUST BE MADE at some point it time, less the world's oil supply is under the guns of a neuclear stand off in perpetuity.  Russia cutting off oil supplies would be the same thing, raise prices. So, why not call Russia's hand, and strike Iran at this opportune time, then Russia' oil card will not be conspicuous nor affective in large measure. The net result is that Oil is going higher, but Russia and Iran may be out of the market, and hence, no income gain, but would starve both Russia and Iran of needed income. If push comes to shove, oil is going higher anyway, and Russia and Iran may be not supplying. So, what would 2 months of oil price shocks cause? I suspect, that Russia would back peddle quick, and get their oil flowing, and Iran will heal, after a first wave of strikes.

Things are deteiorating fast. Suspension of Russia in the WTO considered. Review of Joint Missile defense suggested. Its getting HOT!!! This is the time to stand up, be brave, sanction Russia for the Georgia move, and strike Iran, and let the chips fall where they may, and kill two birds with one stone.

STRIKE IRAN NOW!!!! Derrick

GOP,   Please forward to the McCain Campaign.

Of course I wanted MITT, but the gal McCain choose is a good one. OK, sure I will vote for McCain, but my campaigning this year will be one of NEGATIVE OBAMA, rather than support for McCain, as I can not in good conscience support anyone who, in TREASON, surrenders the southern border, (other than voting for the lesser of two evils).  So, I kicked off my FALL CAMPAIGN against OBAMA, and guess where???

The best place of all, the University of California, Berkeley.

I am going teach those kids a few things about self-reliance, less government, and the traditional roots that made our country strong.

So, I drove the wife and kids to SODOME-SOMEMORA, SF Cal, swore I would never go there again, but had 4 tcikets to the Cal Bear (I was in the class of 75) v Michigan state game, took the boat ride under the Golden gate bridge, went to Berkeley, walking up toward the stadium, I passed a frat, and yelled "GO BEARS, class of 75, GO BEARS!!, grr-rah grr-rah grr-grr-grr-RAH!!!, got allot of high fives, that was fun to pump it up before the game, Bears won, it was a fun good game, met a delightful couple, orientals sitting behind me, both from MSU, the husband is now a vet at UC Davis, but their daughter nows goes to Cal. Great to see the old campus, AFTER 33 years, and in the morning of 8/31, gave the wife a tour of the campus, its actually beatuiful, and then assumed the position at Telegraph and Bancroft, craz-corner, and starting PREACHING (loud speeches to anyone whot would listen, just trying to remember the days of the zoo, and it was about good self-reliance, personal dignity, GOD, and capitalism, that kind of stuff as opposed to shameful socialistic dependencies of the left, and that means OBAMA. I cant support McCain fully, (treason on the southern border), but I can sure SLAM OBAMA this campaign season. Went over to china town for the photo shoot, and then to Fisherman's warf for some crab and shrimp lunch, photo shoot the sea lions, at Pier 39, and then drove back home buying fruits through the valley on the way back to so cal. My campagin slogan this year is GOV-TIT SUCKING SOCIALIST OBAMA, wife making the sign this week. In Berkeley and in Laguna Beach, I just want to piss off a bunch lefties in town, help educate our children in school, and for a few laughs to start off this campaign season.

PUTIN's Russia

As I reported earlier, in part from my personal contacts in Russia, the order from MOSCOW was that Medvedev must win by at least 70% or "heads would roll". And sure enough. There is PUTIN's Russia for ya. But it dont stop there.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080901/wl_nm/russia_ingushetia_dc Russian police in standoff over journalist's death NAZRAN, Russia (Reuters) -

Police in Russia's troubled Ingushetia region were in a standoff on Monday with protesters angered by the death of a leading opposition journalist who was shot in the head while in police custody. Magomed Yevloyev, owner of opposition Internet site www.ingushetiya.ru, is the most high-profile Russian journalist to be killed since investigative reporter Anna Politkovskaya was shot outside her Moscow apartment in October 2006.Police said Yevloyev, who was a leading opponent of Ingushetia's Kremlin-backed leader Murat Zyazikov, was shot by accident when he tried to grab an officer's gun. His supporters and human rights groups said they did not believe that version of events.

A Reuters reporter in Ingushetia's biggest city Nazran said riot police were lined up on a central square where about 250 people, some of them armed with wooden sticks and truncheons, were demanding Zyazikov leave his post."

A reporter was "Accidentally" shot in the HEAD.

Sure, Putin did not pull the trigger, but what is the difference?Stalin's NKVD has apparently been resurrected in the form of state police, under PUTIN's watch.  HOW IN THE HELL do you "Accidently" shoot someone in the HEAD? Give me a break. Putin's cultural strong-man upbringing coupled with his KGB background, will in time, disgrace him in perpetuity as the TYRANT he is becoming under his lust for power, under the cloak of a demoncratically elected official.

It may take another decade for MOSCOW to fully understand the benefits of free speech, thought, and press, but in time THEY WILL, keep the faith, the CONFLUENCE MARCHES ON, as an inevitable force, driven by global cultural evolution, and cemented in time by the desires of all human beings, seeking freedom.  Our PAL PUTIN, (as OREILLY calls him), just showed again, his true colors, his distain for demoncracy, free speech, freedom, and human rights. A chessmaster, yeah right, he is showing his true colors. I warned him to stop rigging elections, provide free speech, but, apparently would not listen to little o-me. You Watch another Russian state go up in flames in protest of MOSCOW's heavy handed quasi-dictatorial socialism and from the cementing of power in a collective few in MOSCOW.

The chessmaster's Bishop just got nailed, or should I say, just got executed.

Putin's Absolute Rule

There was the NKVD, Stalin's henchmen, who, on orders from Stalin's, executed in 1940 the polish intelligencia, fearing they would oppose soviet occupation and domination, including 61000 people of which 15000 were civilian professionals and the polish elite, and 9000 Polish Army officers, 4800 of which were found by the Nazi in 1943 in a mass grave in the Katyn Forest in Eastern Poland. Then we had the KGB, Kruchev-Brezhnev's Boys who kept an eye on Eastern Europe, during which OUR PAL PUTIN, got his training. Now we have the FSB, the Russian Federation Secret Bureau under control of Moscow and that means Putin in fact and concurrently soon Medvedia by law. The stink of course was the assassination of the KGB spy, with poloium, purportedly done by the Russians under orders from Moscow. I don’t really have a problem with a sovereign government ordering the assassination of a spy turn-coat, the problem of course, was that the deed was done on British soil, with London in a fuss and demanding extradition of the alleged assassin, with Moscow refusing, of course, and in retribution to the extradition clamor, the Russians are shutting down British-Counsel offices, one of which was the recently targeted one in Ekatrinburg, east of Moscow, and all of which are purportedly cultural exchange offices, teaching English and Western Culture to Russians, the charges being alleged trump up charges of tax evasion, and alleging its a spy front, as Putin attempts to apparently silence non-government organization (NGOs), particularly foreign ones, from operating in Russia, and meddling in Russia's internal affairs. This is kind of like Nixon's "outside agitators" operating on the UC Berkeley campus or others in the early 70s. The difference of course is that Nixon was a War President, and Putin is not, and so, the justifications for sensorship does not seem apparent in Russia. What do they have to loose, with free speech, by anyone, I ponder continuously, without result. Maybe PM Brown should follow Churchill's then example, and ignore the executions, to preserve the alliance. That is, let it go, to sustain the cultural exchanges, the long term gain, for Russia and the world.  I get the over all impression that Moscow, and that means Putin, just does not like the west telling Russia that it needs further reforming and hurting control that may be deemed necessary to keep Russia on track improving its economy. Of course, I have no way of really telling the truth of any of it, from my garage computer. But cultural tendencies are hard to change, and the NKVD set a standard early on, that’s for sure. Of course Putin has done nothing of that nature, but the problem was not the executions per se, but the absolute rule that eventually corrupts absolutely.  Who really knows why Moscow is so resistance to absolute free speech, maybe its just cultural, and many Russians just don’t care, anyway. I don’t fully understand them, nor do I really know it all. I doubt if Professor Igor's english book on Russian culture, will explain Putin's motivations satisfactory. So, the mystery will continue.

But, with Putin as PM and Medvedeva as President, look out for the good-cop bad-cop routine on the international stage. Medvedeva is perfect as the international polite face man, and I think from Putin's power play perspective was a great choice. I of course will be advising Putin that Stalin's image just aint that great these days, as the world looks in retrospect, on absolute controls. Putin so far has done very well for Russia, and his legacy, is now his to loose in disgrace or cement in glory, in perpetuity.

So now that my Russian wife is a US Citizen, and will vote in the fall, I started talking about politics with her in earnest. First, by way of set up, I explained that communism to socialism to capitalism is a continuum of government intervention into the lives of the people, and that capitalism promotes less government still in possession of socialistic aspects, such as public education, that the more government is involved, the more things are broken because of the lack of negative feedback, be it market forces or failures, that we on the right desire cost effective education, where tenured teachers are fired and children are flunked out for poor performance, and not education at any cost, that is, we want the law of jungle to reign, to maintain sufficient motivations to achieve, that, where the government, for example, provides health care, people may not take care of themselves so well, for example, provide worker unemployment compensation, workers may not work so hard and may try to use the system. There is only so much money available, as taxes are the power to destroy, and if to high, ALL IS DESTROYED. Do we sustain an 80 year old on life support costing $1 million a month, or do we pull the plug and use the money to sustain the next generation with improved schooling? Difficult choices for sure, but, THE CHOICES must be made, as in the end, there is only so much income that can be made, and destroyed through taxes and redistribution. Only god can rain manna from heaven. Hard choices must be made, that is problem. The left want more socializaiton and right less. Both claim that such provides for an improved society. I heard it often that the greatness of a society is how it takes care of the aged. BS!!!! We have many poor black children being raise with deficient food, while 80 ys suck it up, because they can vote. AARP is an obscene organization, in my view. If you did not save during your working years, tuff-chit! Eat dog food ganny! I want to use that money to help the next generation of children, the future.

In essence, both left and right have COMPASSION, the left however teaches unlimited compassion at any cost whereas the right teaches cost effective compassion, and there in lies the main difference.

The left wants social security, medi-care, health-care, whereas I would prefer lower taxes to let people take care of themselves and limit social medical services to malpractice immured health clinics. God teaches I am my brother's keeper, not the government. The government should not force me to be my brother's keeper. The left wants to reject God and make Government almighty in our lives. It is not that we don’t feel compassion, its just that we don’t believe it is the government place to penalize the productive and reward the unproductive of our society through state imposed mandatory income redistribution and socialization. I will take care of my parents when they are old, so don’t take my income to make me take care of your parents.

The bleeding hearts have no bound, they cant place any limits whatsoever, its alway, more more more taxes and "compassion". But it is that unlimited compassion that ultimately destroys everyone and everything. They cant see the immorality and the inherent destructiveness of bailing out banksters for bad investments and providing destructive cradle to grave gov-care. With respect to health care, employment,  national defense, and anything of the human experience, the left does not want anyone to bare any pain, which is noble in theory, if we all were ants programmed to give ALL we have to the queen, but that in connection with Individual Human Beings, it is inherently defective and destructive in the human context.

I explain to my wife that, you do not force children to go to college, as that is a waste time and eventually money. You provide the child a basic education, and explain to them the result of their decisions, and hope, they become self-motivated, because when self-motivated, they achieve, but if herded like sheep, they simply follow the leader and do not achieve.

She says that the schools should not have 40 kids per teachers. I say, an incompetent teacher could not even teach 10 kids in one class room. It is not so much the number of kids, but, as always the bang per buck. Parents and teachers should combine to ensure that in elementary education the child learns to read, write, and calculate. In high school, the most important thing is that you teach them they can be all they want to be if they work hard for it. Then, hope for the best that the child makes good decision, and studies rather than gang-banging. We can not afford to have every child go through only TOP university. To provide motivation, there must be a pecking order, otherwise we are treated like ants, who do not raise above meanial behaviour. We cant even afford social security, or fix pot holes in our roads.

She of course is a lefty from Socialistic Russia, whereas I am a hard right form the USA. She wants the gov to provide all, the hand outs. I want the gov to only provide cost-effective helping hands. She thinks gov is there to insure happiness, whereas I think gov is there to give all an equal opportunity at happiness.

I tried to explain to her, that if the goal is the best OVER ALL health of a society, then the wolves have to take out a few cripples in the herd, less they slow everyone down and degrade the herd. Sure, I have compassion, but I am not stupid. Childred must learn the permissible outer bounds, just like the lefties must learn it as well. The over all health of a society is not achieved by throwing money at every problem, but rather involves the pain and the gain, as without the pain that the left tries avoid, there is no gain that is diminished by the left. In terms of social services, the gov should only provide medical clinics, soup kitchens, and cot shelters, AND NO MORE. I would abolish social security, medi-care, medi-cal, universal health care, unemployment compensation, worker compensation, the FED, the IRS, FIAT FRN, and the national debt, over night. These are REACTIONARY, of course, and a minority view, but are the principles upon which this country was founded and which gave this country the best inherent strength over all. I would abolish the income tax that destroys the motivation to produce, yet, allow property taxes to pay for services giving to land owners, allow for inherence taxes to redistribut the wealth of a dead person from whom the government can not possibly take anything, and allow for consumption taxes to crub glutany in these days of limited resources for more efficient use of natural resources, all providing that cost-effective non-degrading minimal amount of social services.

Reward for personal effort, individual compassionate giving, and limited governmental socialization has worked best for human nature throughout human history, and to suggest that every aspect of Human Beings can be controlled, funded, and dictated by government, is inherently an immoral, imprisoning, and destructive force, that is pushed by the left in their unlimited compassion, which ultimately degrades the morality, strength, and productivity of society.

Yeah, right, go butt-screw in a gay parade in public, but don’t worry, the government (through the power to destroy productive others) will pay the medical fees for your irresponsible decadence, thereby encouraging more of the same, as the left cheers it on.

I have to suspect that the US encouraged Georgia to move some how, to what extent, donno. While russia is strengthening its for-ex, their population is still decreasing, and are still deteriorating, though that has substantially slowed, more of bottoming out, and starting to rise, again, but again, it will take 25 years for the bear to be able to really growl again, but by then, it will be too late for a new czar, they will have gotten it, the democracy thing, in spirit. Putin is too late to resurrect the UNION, and is surrounded. HE IS DOOMED politically in the out years, how long he remains, 10 years is possible, but he is holding back Russia even though the Russians have no clue, mostly.
================
HERE IS A PRIME EXAMPLE OF THE GLOBAL CONFLUENCE FORCE.

We don't understand what American ships are doing on the Georgian shores, but this is a question of taste, it's a decision by our American colleagues," he reportedly said. "The second question is why the humanitarian aid is being delivered on naval vessels armed with the newest rocket systems."

He said Russia's reaction to NATO ships "will be calm, without any sort of hysteria. But of course, there will be an answer," Interfax quoted Putin as saying during a visit to Uzbekistan.

Asked by exactly what measures Russia would take, Putin was quoted as answering "You'll see."

Separately, Russian officials criticized European threats to postpone talks on a partnership deal over the war in Georgia, but the Russian envoy to the EU said he was not surprised that the bloc declined to impose sanctions on Russia.

"We are too interdependent," Vladimir Chizhov told reporters in Moscow. "Russia and the European Union are bound by destiny to be close partners."

EU officials said Monday that unless Russian troops pull back from positions in Georgia, talks on the wide-ranging political and economic agreement would be put off.

Britain and Eastern European nations held out for a tougher line, but Europe's dependence on Russian oil and natural gas deterred stronger sanctions.

"The partnership with the European Union should not be a hostage to the conflict" over Georgia, Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko told reporters Tuesday.

ARE YOU GETTING THIS????
Russia says we are all bound together!
There it is folks, the confluence marches on.
Sure there will be strains along the way, but the forces pushing all closer together are ever present, and irresistable over the long term.
=============
"We are too interdependent," Vladimir Chizhov told reporters in Moscow. "Russia and the European Union are bound by destiny to be close partners."

Now go back to the original Thesis, here is the quote.

Russia's future lies, I think, in an integration into NATO as well as the EU, more so than with the less economically viable southern ex-soviet states, such as Kazakhstan, as Russia is historically an eastern European power, and Russia will move more and more in trade with the west, and Russians' standard of living will improve until Russia is a super economic power in 25 years. In the out-years, Russia-China-US will combine as the tri-party de facto dominant rulers in the world, as the EU remains politically weak minded in their socialism and progressive secularism.

So, Mr. Cox, are you going to keep your blinders on?You get so excited about naked shorts in the financials, but when it comes to other commodities that are not dollar friendly, you all DO NOTHING.

Does duplicity reign at the SEC?
Curious minds would like to know.

Bill,
Thank you so much for posting Prince Myshkin's piece on LeMenu regarding the manipulation of bullion using the OTC longs and COT shorts demonstrating the corruption tools used by the bullion banks regarding the concentrated short positions and the reasons therefore. It is singularly, the most significant work on the subject that I have seen in the last ten years.

Jon Nadler proves Precious Metals manipulation (no really, he does…)

A recent posting by Ted Butler analyzing the sudden sale of an additional 27,606 COMEX silver contracts by 2 banks as of August 5th has created renewed interest in the possibility that COMEX silver is manipulated. Not surprising, given a $6.00 collapse in silver concomitant with the placing of this short side bet.

Jon Nadler, Senior Analyst for Kitco Bullion recently posted an exhaustive rebuttal of the notion that precious metals market pricing is in anyway manipulated by the actions of large traders. The full text of Mr. Nadler’s thoughts can be found here: http://www.kitco.com/ind/nadler/aug292008B.html

This Kitco posted analysis is a verbatim repeat of a congratulatory email sent to ‘Mish’ Shedlock of Sitka Capital from Nadler, after Shedlock made the remarkable discovery that a futures contract represents a long for every short, and therefore there can be no manipulation, no matter how concentrated a particular futures position may be. Verbatim, that is, except for the deletion of assertions of retail silver abundance Nadler made in the email version that were apparently too ridiculous to be posted twice, even by Nadler. Nadler’s email to Shedlock, with the portions included regarding how much retail silver is available and that was deleted from his Kitco posting can be found here: (http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com/2008/08/jon-nadler-senior-analyst-kitco-chimes.html )

Like a blind pig who finds a truffle now and again, Mr. Nadler inadvertently and unknowingly confirms the mechanism by which these markets can be manipulated through the very process he describes as benign.

His analysis attempts to refute all thoughts of manipulation with two arguments. The first is the very model of intellectual sophistication and asserts that if you disagree with him and instead believe that the sale of 165,000,000 ounces of silver (25% of world silver production) on the COMEX by 2 U.S. banks had a depressive effect on the price of silver then you:

Are ignorant
Are stupid
Flunked out of freshman economics
Are on drugs
Are all of the above
Since I have, at various times, met or been accused of all of the above criteria, I will stipulate that there is a possibility that he may be right on this one. Having said that, and as sophisticated and nuanced an analysis as this represents, I am not sure that this in and of itself disproves silver manipulation, so let’s get on with the second half of his analysis that actually proves the opposite of what he thinks it does.

This second point is that there exist “Banks/Bullion Banks” that are “market makers”, who “passively” buy and sell gold and silver, apparently taking these positions out of a sense of altruistic civic “obligation” in response to other trader’s demands. In his view, the sudden appearance of a short position of 33,000 COMEX silver contracts is simply the result of these civically minded banks hedging on the COMEX an OTC position they purchased from funds “stampeding” out of the silver market. Therefore, he goes on, the appearance of this short position on the COMEX is nothing unusual, not manipulative, and if you disagree please pick from the list above the characteristic that describes you best.

Nadler here intentionally, or out of a lack of knowledge, attributes to commodity traders the function of a market maker in a stock security. In stocks, the underwriting banks of a public offering do make a market in the stock, buying where there are no other buyers, and then selling out of any inventory of the stock to new buyers. However, in commodities, the concept doesn’t apply except in very thinly traded markets. In fact, the CFTC glossary of terms, notes this about market makers in commodities:

Market Maker: In the futures industry, this term is sometimes loosely used to refer to a floor trader or local who, in speculating for his own account, provides a market for commercial users of the market. Occasionally a futures exchange will compensate a person with exchange trading privileges to take on the obligations of a market maker to enhance liquidity in a newly listed or lightly traded futures contract.

In other words, there are no ‘Market Makers’ in gold and silver, except those trading for the speculative benefit of their own accounts, and they are certainly under no obligation to buy a massive amount of anything they don’t think they can make money on. After all, who does Nadler presume imposes this ‘obligation?’ Nadler is simply wrong when he tries to assign a market makers ‘obligation’ to bank trading activity that is purely speculative. This is not “passive” trading, but for profit trading, and as long as there is nothing manipulative or illegal about such activity, more power to them. So now let’s look at the activity Nadler describes, and consider whether it is as benign and passive as he contends.

We’ll assume for a moment that the 33,000 short contracts held by 2 banks were put on as Nadler asserts, and do not represent a government coordinated intervention in the gold and silver market to support the dollar, or a government coordinated bailout of a failing or near defaulting commercial trader, which are both possibilities, if hard to prove. If Nadler is correct, then what happened is that these 2 banks bought 165,000,000 ounces of silver from panicking funds on the OTC, where all such transactions are private, invisible, essentially unregulated and then turned around and sold 165,000,000 ounces on the COMEX, a completely transparent market where any change in price is instantly and electronically communicated to millions of traders worldwide, regularly tripping buy or sell orders in the process. So, you have an invisible purchase, and a visible sale of a massive amount of silver. Based on Shedlock, Nadler and CFTC analysis, this represents a perfectly rational hedge, can’t be manipulative because as we all know, hedging is largely neutral since as Shedlock so insightfully notes, there is a long for every short in the hedge.

However, at this point, one begins to wonder if a hedge of this size – 33,000 contracts in silver and 86,000 contracts in gold – that has one leg in a visible market and one leg in an invisible OTC market is quite as benign as Shedlock/Nadler/Szabo/CFTC et al insist it is. We have been told for years that the fact that the COMEX silver market structure sports a larger commercial net short position than any other significant market is of no manipulative import because it represents a hedged position, long someplace else. The someplace else, according to Nadler, is the OTC market, which I would propose creates an inherently manipulative structure, as I think can be demonstrated by considering the following possible sequence of events, which would be perfectly consistent with Nadler’s views on what happened during the latter part of July and the first two weeks of August, the published data, as well as the trading opportunities open to the banks holding the reported positions:

Hedge funds begin selling silver and gold on the OTC market, and the 2 banks that show up on the Bank Participation Report begin buying.
As the banks buy OTC they sell COMEX, and by August 5th they are long 165,000,000 ounces OTC and short 165,000,000 ounces COMEX. (Note: this position was actually larger based on the COT reports prior to August 5th, the cutoff date for the Bank Participation Report, but that is another story.)
The selling on the COMEX of such a massive amount of silver and gold trips stop losses, further depressing the price of silver and gold, ultimately hitting a 40% decline in silver from recent highs.
The banks at this point have a large profit on the short COMEX position and a large loss on the OTC long position.
The banks begin covering the short position on the COMEX. Not huge amounts that would cause the price to spike, but enough to have it rise over the next couple of weeks, if not dramatically.
Since no one is ‘obligating’ them to do so, they don’t bother to sell any of their large under water OTC position to match their liquidation of their COMEX short position. After all, with a retail shortage of silver and increasingly gold, long positions would seem to be pretty good bets.
Periodically, the banks throw a few large sell orders onto the COMEX, to slow or reverse building rallies. Kind of a 2 steps forward, 1 step back approach.
Over the course of a few weeks, the banks cover some percentage of the COMEX short position, making money. Based on price action since mid July and the Bank Participation Report cutoff date, the banks would have a minimum basis for their 33,000 short COMEX silver position of $17.65 and their 86,000 short COMEX gold position of $925.00.

Based on the COT reports showing ‘big 4’ short covering and today’s price, these short positions would show a total mark to market profit of $1.5 billion, with a minimum of $80,000,000 realized in silver and a minimum of $250,000,000 in gold.
As of now, the banks would be long OTC their original position, but their short COMEX leg has been reduced – as of Friday, by about 4,000 contracts in silver and 25,000 contracts in gold.
Now, let’s assume that over the next week or two, the price goes up a bit and more COMEX short covering occurs. At some point, and barring another successful whap down of the price on the COMEX, whatever profitable short covering is possible on the COMEX would have occurred.
The banks are now in a position, if they wish, to spike the pm price upwards by the simple mechanism of buying back portions of their remaining COMEX short position with the happy result (for them) that their long leg on the OTC is now also profitable. They stop buying back on the COMEX, but at whatever point they stop, they have made money on a good chunk of the COMEX short, their OTC excess long is also now solidly profitable, and any remaining COMEX/OTC spread isn’t doing them any harm. And the wonderful thing about this money machine is that it is a RENEWABLE RESOURCE! As long as you can rely on the CFTC, Jon Nadler et al to keep telling people it’s all ok and there is a nickel left in the pockets of silver investors you can KEEP DOING IT!

What a wonderful world.

Always fun to slam the culture warrior,

Bill,
Your airing of OBAMA's first interview segment in advance of McCain's RNC acceptance speech, thereby attempting to steal McCain's thunder through your negotiation with the DEMs, did not FAIRLY reflect McCain's reframe and graciousness with his Congratulatory ad during the DNC, indicating your media bias or willingness to cowtow the left, to which you habitually complain, yet you have now embraced it fully with a cheap premature interview segment just before McCain's grand moment.

We saw through it Bill, your cheap shot timed interview airing. The first segment could not have waited, just one more day? Palin must be a big threat to them, with which you take selfish advantage for ratings. Are ratings so important, you will throw out your purported fair and balanced ethical reporting?

Cant Really Lose

So Fannie and Freddie got bailed out, and the doom sayers abound with chicken little like responses. Predictable of course, for the many superficial reasons. If you view the world as FRN stabilized and based, you will moan and complain, as have I, naturally so. But, I always keep in the back of my mind, how the US (FDR, Nixon, and now Bernakie), suckered the rest of the world, and offered up intrinsically valueless paper fiat money, and guess what, the foreign fools took it, a willing partner to the greatest global monetary fraud of all time. I have no sympathy for those who did not contribution to or who selfishly opposed civilizing this world, and hence, they got what they wanted, a superpower global police that they indirectly pay for by and through supporting the FRN.

So take heart true real money believers. The USA is actually in the driver seat, and cant lose over the very long term. How so? Simply run up the national dept to 100T$, use that value wisely to pay off any obligations, and then declare redemption in gold for the FRNs, but at a very very high redemption rate, say 5B$/oz, and the national debt is wiped out for a mere 1 ton of gold. Remember this, because the FRN is intrinsically worth zero, that is the TOTAL SUM that USA intrinsically owes the rest of world, and any ratio of FRN/1ozAu can be declared and enforced by governmental fiat as well, over night. Get this clear, the national debt can be zeroed, and US returned to real money, overnight, and done so any time the US government desires.

I view all of the FRN debasement and manipulation as a necessary precursor to a return to real money, the ultimate prize to regain freedom and honest money usage. In order to achieve that, the government must inflate the FRN to zero, and on that score, the US government is doing just fine, in that graceful degradation to zero value. Today is a very good day toward the return to real money, a very good thing. Real money believers need not wish the FED luck, as the fixation to FIAT is inherently a self defeating medium of exchange, that ultimately fails. Real money believers should be brave, face the future, and hope the FED does not change direction, in destroying FIAT. Deficit spend, bail out, hand out, and run up the national debt to 100T$, and let the dollar implode, followed by a return to real money, with the US completely out of debt, but with a more civilized world. The USA money managers are doing just fine, in my view, destroying FIAT, as ultimately, in so doing, the US owes nothing, and hence, cant really lose.

So, what will Americans do, when they wake up?
Hhhmmm, last time was 1979, I was there, and (by the way) lived through it just fine, (oil shock, inflation). I have faith in Americans to react.

WOW 11.95 silver, (gold holding tuff 797).
BUY MORE BULLION, buy hard assets.

You should be concerned, fiat is trashed, and getting rid of it will be problematic, in large ways.
But if you see problems of that, rather than the benefits of it, you are locked into fiat, and imprisoned, enslaved, and unwilling to bare the pain of getting rid of fiat yoke altogether. Sure there will be transitory dislocations, saving accounts will lose in value, (if stupid enough to save that way) and the dislocations could even bring on a depression, (which I am not affraid of, as poverty is not a crime, and is only relative living standard, and short lived historically), but eventually, when the bail outs and hand outs are all felt, and hyperinflation roars, price appreciation will occur, leading to a fiat collapse, as pain occurs always during major changes, but change is coming, beyound what the candidates say.

I know its scary. People will be "inconvenienced" by a fiat collapse, but I would rather live free and poorer (transitorally) than enslaved in perpetuity.

You want a continual problematic fiat Matrix?
No thank you. Dont think the collapse will happen within the next two years, but change is coming, thereafter.

Be Brave, endure, and bring it on.
You are only poor if you believe it so.

Despite the 2.5% national lead by McCain, Obama still leads in the no-toss up electorial votes.

273 Obama and 265 McCain (273-265)/2 equals only 4 votes,
so any new state polling switch puts McCain in the lead.

WA, OR, WI, IA, NJ are merely leaning Dem, WOW!!
VA and NV are toss up states with McCain having the edge.

So on the West Coast, only CA is solid Dem. In the upper midwest only IL is solid Dem. There are NO SOLID DEM states is the west, south, OH River valley middle. New England has solid DEMs in DC MD DE NY VT ME MA RI, and hence, CA IL and NY, the big three, full of tit sucking city dwellers, living (sucking) off the rural america, is the core of the DEM party, yeah, Chicago corruption Machinists, SF rump rangers, LA illegal mexicans, and NY hand-out socialists and wall street bail-out socialists. (WHAT A TEAM, eh?)

MN NH MI PA CO NM are toss up states now with Obama having a edge, McCain needs only one of them, <<<!!!!

As polling data is, however, time averaged at Real Clear Politics, most recent polls are not absolutely determinitive.

And, recent polls put McCain on top in MI (of all things, must be a MITT influence) and on top in
NM where Richardson is barely holding the dem faithful.

Bush carried CO, NM, IA, so CO and NM are particularly volunerable to a McCain come back, and MI looking really possible.

So, The PALIN FACTOR, brought McCain even with Obama, a real horse race now, (who would have thought that? Morris wrote off McCain in April, but now says "he has a shot").

Cash-Spot Bullion Market

I enjoyed reading Jason Hommel's latest,

http://news.silverseek.com/GoldIsMoney/1221256431.php

suggesting an alternative market to the COMEX, which alternative, by implication, is also an alternative to dealers. The COMEX, referred to by bugs as the CRIMEX, is so blatantly manipulated, that it is not a real spot-cash market, but a paper manipulating futures market, divorced from day to day real cash on the barrow trades, and used by the US government to indirectly manipulate bullion to support the dollar's perception. Hommel made clear the point that what is need is a NON-FUTURE cash market, a real spot cash market. The SEC holds a blind eye to the COMEX bullion manipulation, to support the dollar, so don’t expect the SEC or the US Government to insist on a free and fair bullion market any time soon.

So, miners (and refiners) produce bullion bars, say COMEX 1000oz bars, or JM 100oz bars, for example. Jewelers and industrial consumers buy mostly in buck shot form. In addition, some miners and refiners offer generic rounds. Into this mix, can also be placed sovereigns, for example, CAN maples and US eagles. Bars, shot and coins are the mix that could be purchased on a CASH-SPOT basis but only in a true spot market, that does not now exist, thanks to the SEC and the CRIMEX, the bullion banks, and the US government in a conspiratorial cabal. The buyers (investors, jewelers, and consumers) and sellers (miners, refiners, and trading investors) are ready for any additional method to buy/sell their product, as choice is always better, less some investors are "left behind". But what should be the mechanics?

Mr. Sinclair at jsmineset.com is thinking of forming some kind of a miners' associations, which may allow the miners to surreptitiously complain about market manipulation, but does not OPENLY enable private (non-COMEX) cash-only spot trading. Here in Southern California, CNI and TULVING and Monex are big dealers, buying and selling refined product already, such as bars, as well as generic and sovereign rounds. They could very easily open up their product lines to include some standardized shot metal for jewelers and consumers, and hence, provide the full spectrum of bullion products, from bars, coins, and shot.

Now, imagine, in addition to Sinclair's miners' association, there is created Hommel's cash-spot dealers' association, each of whom, would be able to, on a centralize web board, list all products available, with their buy/sell prices for immediate delivery only, that is, cash on the barrow. These buy/sell prices establish a cash-spot market and spread. Each dealer can post, to the extent desired for centralized dealing, whatever product that they wish to buy/sell, not only to each other, but also to the public, governments, and refiners. A dealers' association could, and quickly, by-pass the US government indirect manipulation of the bullion markets, and establish a real, unmanipulated, free and fair, cash-spot bullion market.

Le Patron,

Let the Gold Market Trade Freely,

It use to be that businesses did there thing, taking on debt and expanding trade, making profits, and when things got bad for investors, there was always the release valve, GOLD, the safe haven go-to sure bet for investment protection. Yeap, gold has always been viewed as such, a safe haven, until of course, more recent modern times. Yeap, back in the good old days, you could always run to bullion for wealth protection, but a funny thing happened on the way to the bullion bank to pick some up, as an insurance policy, someone made it actually illegal to own gold, if you can really believe that, and then, someone took the US businesses and the currency off of silver coinage, and then, someone decouple gold from the currency all together. Gold and Silver were marginalized intentionally by the US Government. That is the history, so that FIAT would rule the world, and it has. But that was not a problem, so long as one could buy/sell gold at fair and free prices. However, fiat is subject to debasement, and hence, no longer a go-to safe haven, only gold was, in the good old days.

Of course, even during recessions or bank failures, everyone could put their dollars into gold, a safe haven, but a funny thing happened on the way to the coin shop, to pick up some more insurance in unstable banking and currency times, someone started to manipulate gold and silver prices downward, destroying mine supplies, while creating a super low paper futures market price, just to support the fiat dollar, and guess what, now average Joe cant buy "poor man's" gold, at any price, and no longer do businesses and people pile wealth into bullion, because its price is highly, ridiculously so, manipulated to a low value, and so, the story goes, derivatives were born in a world having no real safe havens. So, here comes the mighty derivatives, to save the world, to provide investment insurance, a safe haven, as the currency was debased and bullion prices were manipulated. Currencies were being debased through over expenditures, and gold was manipulated severely down in the futures markets, and that was the death nail of the two true safe havens.

Only one tradition safe haven remained, land, another pillar of personal freedom. But a funny thing happened on the way to the mortgage bank, no income was needed to borrow purchase money mortgages, and hence, the bankster took their fees and pocketing their huge bonuses. But a funny thing happened on the way to the escrow agent, upon the ARM resets, the house declined in value, and hence, the bankster were on the hook.

But not so fast, there was insurance right? The really really smart bankers created an illusion of safety by using derivatives that protected investments against losses. So, in the mortgage bubble, more derivatives were created, and sold everywhere, infecting the financial system with a deadly virus, but wait, as long as all counteryparties pay up, all is dandy, right?

Well, mortgage banks started to get hit with losses. Now get that straight, derivatives were created and are used as an insurance against business losses, and hence, the derivative leverage were disposed in trenches, and of course all was merry, secured by real property, for 20 years, or so. But a funny thing happen on the way FED facility window, to borrow as much money as any bankster needs, the government is now under political pressure to stop bailing out the banksters, and hence, some banks now will not be bailed out, and will have to eat their losses or go BK.

But wait a minute, are not derivatives suppose to be a net sum zero protection and insurance safe haven to the banksters as a whole? Well, a funny thing happened on the way to the FED's bailout window, the jig is up politically, bail-out socialism has run its short course with BSC and GSE, as Lehman is not going to be bailed out, and will go BK, yet LEH represents the paying counterparty to a great hoard of protecting insuring derivatives, meaning that, many many banks will take a huge hit in losses based upon Lehman brothers' derivative failures to pay, and that is what is going to start a real global financial system failure.

How did it all start? The US government made it a crime to own gold, one of the five corner stones of personal freedom, (GOD GOLD GUNS LAND & VOTE) and when that failed, the government then manipulated down the price of gold, destroying its supply, and its safe haven function, the all time financial release valve that hold value to sustain any recovery, and hence, there was no where to run for safety, but to the derivative market, to seek protection, but unlike GOLD, derivatives have a major counterparty risk, and as such, 100T$ in derivatives are going to explode in bankruptcies and in failures, because of, and without the protection of, the safe haven value of gold to absorb the losses and recover, and there is now a pending collapse of the world's fiat complex and the banking industry, all because, THE US GOVERNMENT DECIDED it knew better, and trashed the gold and silver markets, keys to freedom and a necessary release valve for risk as a go-to safe haven. With the currency safe haven debased, with bank mortgage losses setting off a spiral downward in bank losses, with GOLD manipulated down to prevent its use as a traditional safe havens, and with no where to go but to the derivatives, there is now a 100T$ derivatives bubble going POP. Why?

Because Gold does not now function as a safe haven, as it is severely manipulated, which manipulation created and caused the derivative bubble, which will now take down all global fiat and the derivatives. Those who have decided to manipulate bullion prices down, and thereby force the banking industry to engage in exotic counterparty-vulnerable derivatives for investment protection, really are the ones to have pressed the plunger, and the resulting implosion of the fiat complex and the financial and banking markets, which implosion was completely avoidable, had common sense ruled the FED, to just let the bullion gold market trade freely.

The Russian Paradox,

The Tsars of imperial Russia ruled with an iron hand, and so did the politburo of Soviet Russia, leading to an imbedded and inbred Russian culture of strong man rule, for centuries, that has lasted to this day, despite the fall of the soviet union. This culture of strong man rule opposes liberalized political movements that would otherwise make modern Russians become true democrats and capitalists. Just because some wall fell down in a dominated foreign country, don’t mean that Russian culture will change any time soon. Most Russians have no clue what economic capitalism and political democracy are really all about, both of which, taking individual foresight and energy for successful participation, something missing in Tsarist or Soviet Russia. President Bush can complain all he wants about media controls, rigged elections, and dead reporters, but it wont make a difference to most Russians. They primarily could care less about real personal freedom, and will readily coward under centralized rule from Moscow, at least until the 45-70 years of age folks die off.

PM Putin, the real power in Russia, however, has a big problem. Sure, he can dictate election results, send out bombers on missions, and pound his chest on fishing trips, to arouse Russian patriotism and bring back memories of the sputnik days of glory, but what he can not do, is turn back the hands of time. Possessing a real zeal for centralized dictatorial rule, under the guise of a democracy, he is cornered in his mother land, without routes of power expansions to which he was indoctrinated many years ago under and for the KGB. Just look at a globe. The two possible areas of Russian expansion, have already been attempted, one is under the arctic ice, and the next is in the caucuses, both of which, in view of the expansive nature of the soviet empire, are but mere tokens of intent, but more importantly, insightful exposures of the nature and culture of his Russian population, which, in large measure at the grass roots, supported the move into Georgia.

This day, NATO chief Scheffer flew into Tbilisi Georgia with thumbs up, indicating that NATO admission is a done deal, something Russia opposes, yet, it was Russia, that is Putin, who actually cemented this with the Russian drive toward the BTC oil pipeline in central Georgia, a planed geo-political maneuver by Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili, who sent a raiding party into a break away province, to successfully incite, infuriate, and draw in a Russian response, playing and preying upon Russian culture, to thereby raise support in Western Europe for Georgian admission to NATO, and, with Putin over-playing his hand by moving Russian tanks beyond that break away province to the pipeline, and thereby played right into Saakashivili's gambit, and as such, Putin was played for a fool, with Saakashivili playing upon Russian culture and desires. The gambit worked, as Russia is now withdrawing under western political pressure and under the rebuke to requested support for independence in the break away provinces from Eurasian partners, most notably China, having provincial problems itself. Putin was played a fool, he was condemned by Europe, he cemented Georgian NATO admission, while obtaining a rebuke from his Eurasian friends. Strike three, and he is out of Georgia, as he is now moving back his tanks back into Russia. But did he or his Russians learn anything? Probably not, its cultural with them, and they don’t even know it, being played the fool.

It is the blind ambition of a tyrant, the embedded and inbred strong man culture, and a strong desire to regain the Yuri Gagarin glory of the old soviet union, that has led, by any fair analysis, to an embarrassment for Putin and Russia in Georgia. The Russian paradox exists, as they really want a strong-man Tsar to lead them back to the old glory days, but those days are long gone, as the map has been redrawn, as Poland positions NATO defense missiles within range of Russian air space. As both the Arctic, and now Georgia, the only possible avenues of expansion, have been played out, there is no place else for Russian expansion, in a global dead end. The war games with Venezuela may project some Russian influence, but mere influence is a far cry from the occupational dominance of eastern Europe by the Soviets. Just let Hugo and Putin have some fun fishing together for a photo shoot, and let the world draw their own conclusions.

In other aspects, the Russian central bank has been rapidly increasing its FOREX reserves, the energy complex is expanding, as does its gold hoard, while the Russian economy has expanded. But Russia still suffers from a deteriorating infrastructure, a literally dying population, and an economy that ranks Russia in the 2nd, if not 3rd, world economies. For all that glory seeking, Russia does not have the muscle, nor could that muscle be modernly used, as the days of massive tank armies of the 20th century, rolling through Europe unopposed are long gone, and hence, so is the traditional soviet style expansion methodology. Putin and Russia need to rethink their strategy for prospective gains in the 21st century.

As the Russian Bear has been, in large measure, geopolitically isolated to its home turf, and thereby caged in large measure, the strong-man culture and desires for the heady days of soviet domination are presently holding back Russia and the Russians from much more prosperous times and equal acceptance among all nations. Instead of trying to resurrect a defunked empire and a debunked economic system, the Russians should look inward and then forward, to rebuild their infrastructure, to improve medical care to stop the dying population, to provide child supports to increase the birth rate, to focus on new manufacturing capabilities, to increase political debate on TV, to institute free and fair elections, but most importantly, to join WTO and NATO and G8 in mutually cooperative, and not opposing, ways, and really join the global community, rather than to uselessly attempt to polarize the world for self gain under conventional soviet tactics, but, until the Russian population divorces itself from its indigenous strong man culture and heavy socialistic reliance upon centralized control, and start encouraging individualism, free expression, self-reliance, and international cooperation in earnest, Russia is doomed to backwardization, arctic field trips and Georgian picnics, under Putin, for the foreseeable future.

I really feel for Mark, the last contribution, of the appendix this day, getting, on a down slide.

I off in shares 70% a late comer to shares (05), but still up 200% in Au, and up 30% in silver, the MAJOR CORE, so still ahead, and the share bets are long term, anyway, just hope they dont go BK and survive the credit crunch.

Look, newbies, buy what you can afford, cash on the barrow, most in a core in bullion, Au Ag, some Pt and Pd, if you like, and bury it, dont trade it, dont sell it, just SAVE IT, and just keep buying a little each pay check, only what you can afford of course, and go the very long term in your holds and expectations, and expect the ups and downs along the way, knowing they will come and go.

$10,000/oz Au and $500/oz Ag, is in the cards,
sometime, when?, donno, between 2013-15, if inflation, but if deflation, (Used may very well be correct), the bullion will still be worth more than the same value as when you bought, you still will have MORE purchasing power in unrealized fiat gain whatever is the price even with no serious inflation, as bullion is the safe haven insurance, now a must more than ever, given the global financial mess.

You got that right fish, we have been predicting this mess for a few years now, now we're in the chit, as expected, which reaffirms the early expectations, does it not, IN SPADES!!!!!

Older guys/gals, who have been predicting and expecting this, are not fearful, but brave to face the future, as we have plan for and have accepted these probabilities. Dont panic, dont cry, think think think, how to protect yourself.

We should keep a running annual list, to show the acceleration towards, A GLOBAL FIAT COLLAPSE:

08: Bear Sterns, Fredie, Fannie, IndyMac, NorthernRock, Lehmann Bros, Merril Lynch

Any others to add for 08?

09:
10:
11: (chit really starts to hit fan, gold hits 2750/oz
12:
13:
14:
15: (fans clogged up, wont even turn anymore, lights are out, bullion $3500/oz)

2025, FREE AT LAST, FREE AT LAST, that enslaving FIAT crap is buried at last!!!!! Only Au Ag Pt and Pd sovereign coinage, accepted as MONEY around the world!!!!! at $25,000/oz.

By the by, anyone out there remember my two memos just last month of Goldman Sachs taking a 70B$ hit, but hoping to ride it out past the election, when the printing presses start to save their butts?

Well Well share price off $40 since then,
Mere Coincidence? You decide.

===============
I would suggest, waiting to see if 200$ support holds, if not, could collapse to 150$/oz, which would be a clear buy signal, but that would mean PM generally falling more, and I dont think Au will be dropping any more, so $200 when hit, and holds for a few days, is the entry time and point I would look to.

I cant, however, see Pt under 1000$, having supply deficits for so long and continuing, and relatively, think 200$ is a very good entry price for Pd, if Pt holds 1000$. Pd has been in over-supply for some time, and that, I dont believed has changed, the trick has been Pd jewelry sales, which have increased, but only a little, eg china. Pd has twice made run ups to 600$, only to falter, and come back down, unsustainable at that high price. I would not look at a cat-converter push, but rather a poor-man's jewelry explosion, as the key to much much higher relative Pd/Pt prices. If silver supplies fail or fiat FRN collapses, Au/Ag/Pt will move much higher, and jewelry demain in Pd could take off, and offer over weighted gains in Pd, over Ag/Au/Pt, but dont count it, just yet.

Dec 05, bought at 196, and in Aug 07, sold at 360, rotated into Ag at 12$, which is still lower than $16/oz cash market. So, may be, will buy some at 200$/oz on a SUSTAINED floor basis first, which I think will happen, and a good buy, but so will be Au/Ag/Pt, Pd jewelry sales are the key to over weight Pd gains.

Last night Hal, you were on my mind, along with the 5oz of Pt US eagles, purchased yesterday. I would like to see the US mint produce $20 Pd Eagle, and if so, that just might send Pd higher on a spike, and sustained demand would take the place of Pd jewelry, so Pd US Eagles or Jewelry Demand, are the keys to over-weight Pd gains, in my view.

US Mint,

It is time for the US mint to mint $20 1oz Palladium (Pd) Eagles, to complete the PM mix. Ag Au Pt and Pd are strategic and monetary metals, and its time for the US MINT to get current. Ag Au Pt and Pd EFTs are operating. All are made in soverign rounds, about the world. It is time the US Mint get with the complex, and complete the mix. I requested some time ago that Pt and Pd ETFs be created, and it took the market two years to react, and finally get it. Get with the program, and stop being a laggard.
Thanks Much!! in advance, as I know it will happen eventually.

The bullionDesk is reporting that Pt is in surplus and Pd is in deficit, but this may be skewed, by the new Pt AND Pd ETFs.

Bill, TheBullionDesk is reporting that 2008 will be the lowest CB gold sales under WAG1 and WAG2, since 1995!!! The ECBs will not sale their treasure under such financial stress these days, regardless of pressure from DC. So, financial chaos, degrading supplies, CB holding back sales, the Cartel losing 2 cap attempts this day, in addition to GOLD reaching ALL TIME BULL RUN HIGHs, relative to Ag (paper price), Pt, and Pd, spells new highs this fall for GOLD. Hold firm you bullion holders, never in this run, has there been the need to stay long and strong to break the back of the CARTEL.

Le Patron,

The Death and Rebirth of a Gold Cartel Thug,

Midas posted this summer, two memos regarding Goldman Sachs, as follows:

Goldman Sachs will Push Gold to the Moon

So, who was it, JP Morgan, or Merrill, or WHOCARES, who wrote off at 22c on the dollar for their bogus CDOs, which Wall Street sold to the world? Pick whatever figure you wish to MARK to PHONY MARKET, just pick one, anyone will do, but for sure, it better be lower than 22c/$, but, this figure of 0.22$/$ is the best we got, so far. Maybe the Auzzies price is better, or others will drive that figure lower, and change that purported FMV for CDO level 3 trash. No one really know the true value, of MARK to PHONY MARKET, but its going lower than 22c/$. Anyway, Goldman Sachs has 78B$ of level three junk CDOs. So lets do the math, (1$-0.22$) x 78B$ = 0.78 x 78B$ (what a coincidence), equals drum roll ... 60.84 BILLIONS DOLLARS, for good old Goldman Sachs to write off, and Goldman Sachs is probably pooping in their Au shorts, knowing what MUST HAPPEN. But, Goldman Sachs ain't stupid, and they know what they, the world MONEY FINANCE KING, themselves have and what it is worth, and will have to take it in the balance sheets, and, as the manipulating gold-suppressor king falls from grace, the markets will plunge, and then, IMPLODE, and Goldman Sachs knows that GOLD will rocket, during their capitulation, and that is why Goldman Sachs has been covering and unwinding their AU short positions, per Adrian's well done work on Goldman Sachs Gold short positions. When Goldman Sachs comes clean, THIS FALL, Goldman Sachs will push gold to the moon.

Goldman Sachs Never Loses

I read Chuck Cohen piece this day posted on LeMenu and found it very interesting. I will note Monty's reference in yesterday's Midas appendix about Goldman Sachs contributing 625,000$ to Obama's campaign. Yet, the current republican administration has effectively given the FED and the treasury a blank check to bail out Fannie and Freddie, and anyone else. Mr. Cohen projects a massive injection of liquidity. Well aint that nice, to inflate house prices, so that Goldman Sachs will never, I mean never, have to write off the current low FMV of booked 78B$ worth of level three CDO trash, when housing recovers on such liquidity injection. Such liquidity of course will rocket gold, just in time for Goldman Sachs to finish covering their short positions, per Adrian's great work, and go long of gold. It is amazing how the Federal Government is, in all affects, protecting Goldman Sachs from losses. I guess Goldman Sachs is not only a connected world class trader, that seems to never lose, but also hedges its political connections with campaign contributions. While it would be nice to see Goldman Sachs take a big hit for its years of gold suppression, they seem to cover themselves well, at all times, just in time, in off balance sheet unrealized losses, in campaign contributions, in connected relationships to current governmental power players with their ex-corporate officers, and in their changing futures positions. With FOUR ACES IN THE HOLE, at all times, Goldman Sachs never loses."

Now, this day, as gold launches up $53/oz passed two cap attempts, as the CB will sale less tonage this year since 1995, Goldman Sachs share price is getting hammered off 20$ today alone. Ah, how sweet it is! The head hit man for cartel going down, Goldman is on the breakers. Their share price has fallen from 180$ to 100$, in less than three months!!! That is a monterous 45% decline in share price, in three months.

So listen up, GS share price will get hit some more, as they continue to cover their gold shorts, but after the elections, the printing presses open up, big time, as Black-Hawk Bernakie Loaded for Bear, rains manna from heavens, and stabilize housing, and inflation raises its ugly head, and GS staves off disaster, as GOLD rockets up in price, pushed by solid-rocket-boosters, GS gold longs, as this rat runs for hills, and jumps on the real money bandwagon, as a death and rebirth of a gold cartel thug.

LePatron, Amazing,
I bet Midas is ticed off, about the Dennis Gartman bet, as gold hit 740 for one day, under 750/oz, yet, 4 days later, is approaching 850, with 750/850 being first hit the bet. Is DG still on the sidelines? He won the bet, and for lunch, is out, and missing a monster rise. Enjoy your lunch DENNIS!!!  Midas gets even in the end, though. Hey, does anyone remember last year, Rogers calling a 750/oz buy in price, to reload?  AMAZING!!!!!

Trying to save face: The Russian sign treaties with Abakas and S Osettia.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080917/ap_on_re_eu/eu_russia_georgia

Sorry, Razputin and Cirkovoy Mishka, but you look more embarassed than successful, almost as good a photoshoot of Kuchma and Putin, after the Orange Revolution. Yeap, backwardization for the forseeable future, and Georgian picnics.
In order to be admitted into the EU or NATO, I believe the country must not have any border disputes, with opposing countries, and maybe this is a ploy by Putin, in a last ditch effort to prevent NATO admission.
hhmmm, as Russia does not claim the two provinces as it own, it would seem a legal issue, upon which Georgia would prevail.
==============
Here is the Georgian line:
TBILISI, Georgia - Georgia says intercepted mobile phone calls between South Ossetian border guards show Russian tanks and troops invaded first — before Georgia's offensive began in the separatist region.

An Interior Ministry official on Tuesday played what he said were the recordings for Associated Press Television News and provided English translations.

Russia says it sent forces into South Ossetia on Aug. 7 only after Georgia's attack and was defending Russian citizens and peacekeepers there.

But the Georgian government says the recordings show Russia invaded some 20 hours before the Georgian offensive began.

The five-day war killed hundreds of people and caused the worst crisis in Russia's relations with the West since the Cold War.

I am not buying it, completely, (both sides are to blame, of course), less Putin is in reality a sovietsky KGB tyrant.

Bill,  OReilly

I wanted to thank you for your talking points 9/17/08. Right on man!! Both political parties and government have failed the people. First, you mentioned Franks (MA-D), but forgot Dodd (CT-D) on banking in congress, both ARE INCOMPENTENT for the job, with no oversight as to 1,200, Trillion $ derivatives market with counter-risks, while safe havens dollars and gold are destroyed in value, and I agree both should resign in disgrace.

You were also right on about the SEC, (COX-SEC), allowing the wall street banksters to use illegal naked shorts to destroy markets for personal greed, just look at the devastation in the mining industry, and the financials. But lets not forget the FED, manipulating markets to trying to keep them pristine, removing the business cycle that is necessary, including both expansions and recessions, being the necessary feed and wolves of the jungle. Without both, the economy gets imbalanced. Its socialism from the get go.

But what you missed, is that, the government is complicit, to some extent, as most of it all goes to trying to protect the dollar value, in view of huge and irresponsible budget/trade deficits, a noble cause, but misguided in manner, such as manipulating the price of gold down, with the SEC turning a blind eye. The government is creating moral hazards by bailing out the banksters, manipulating markets through intervention, mostly republicans, and providing cradle to grave Gov-Care, mostly democrats, leading to an impossible budgetary mess.

These problems occur because politicians would rather pander votes, than provide leadership and sound governance.

By Bill O'Reilly 9/17/08Millions of Americans, including your humble correspondent, have been hammered by the declining stock market. And once again, greed has caused the debacle. Many companies went on a lending spree, giving money to people who couldn't pay it back. That's what's behind the chaos. In a capitalistic system, the government does not manage private companies. It can prosecute dishonesty but not stupidity. It's clear that greedy CEOs destroyed their own companies while they themselves walked away with huge money. Again, the government can't do much about that unless these greed-heads broke the law. What politicians can do is provide oversight leadership and warnings. The Bush administration did not make it a priority to publicly warn the folks about the bad loan mania. They knew about it. The president could have done that. He did not. Mr. Bush also did not warn of higher gas prices either. The Democratic Congress stood mute, including Barack Obama. The senator had 19 months to sound the alarm on both bad loans and boiling oil. He did not. In fact, Congressman Barney Frank, a rabid left-winger, presided over the debacle at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the two powerful lending institutions that went belly up. Did you hear Frank warn anybody? I didn't. Freddie and Fannie even donated $85,000 to Barack Obama's campaign. That's interesting.
Now the presidential candidates are blaming each other. Monday, John McCain said this:JOHN MCCAIN: The fundamentals of our economy are strong, but these are very, very difficult times. And I promise you we will never put America in this position again. We will clean up Wall Street.BARACK OBAMA: We just woke up to news of financial disaster, and this morning he said that the fundamentals of the economy are still strong. Senator McCain, what economy are you talking about?Well, you can decide which guy has the best take, but both guys need to be very specific when it comes to what they want to do to protect Americans from irresponsible corporations.By the way, as I pointed out Monday, the price of oil has declined about 33 percent in two months. But the price of gas at the pump has declined seven percent. The oil companies strike again and nobody is watching them."Talking Points" believes most elected officials are clueless when it comes to running the economy. It is a complicated and dangerous area, and we need a president who is bold enough to manage it.This current mini crisis will play itself out, but millions of Americans will get hurt in the process. All I want is for the president and Congress to be up front. When warning signs appear, our leaders should make them public so the folks know what the heck's going on.Greed is not good. It is destructive. Greed caused this current chaos, and there was no Paul Revere in public office to alert us. The fault lies with both parties. And that's "The Memo."
========
The Micex Stock Exchange, the country's largest bourse by volume, today resumed limited trading after regulators shut it amid the biggest stock rout in a decade. The ruble-denominated Micex Index plunged 17 percent on Sept. 16, the biggest drop since Bloomberg started tracking the gauge in May 2001, hurt by a liquidity squeeze in the country. The gauge was down 3.1 percent at the time trading was halted yesterday

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=a1CanR4_xTtE

http://www.micex.com/

the fall in MICEX (Russia) is about the same as the DOW, 14000 to 11000 and 1400 to 1000, respectively.

There is your GREAT COUNTERSTRIKE!!

Putin is a fool, and a tyrant, and a sovietsky KGB agent, in a purple robe.

Again, I can not believe that Putin would be so foolish to UNILATERALLY move tanks to the BTC pipeline, without some provocation, and then, just pull back. The move by Russia was probably in response to Georgia moving toward Osettia in force in the first instance, (generating a perceived threat there, and a preemptive strike by the Russians) that provoke the Russian move.

If, however, Putin moved in the tanks, to START a war, and show bravado, then he is beyond a mere dictatorial tyrant, but the devil (stalin) incarnate.

I just wish they could get off their self-centered glory seeking, and embrace the west, and join the world team, rather than seeking selfish gains through polarization, leading to more conflicts. Most Americans, like me, would welcome Russia as allies, in the world at large, and join, THE NEW WORLD ORDER, leading to global capitalism and democracy.

But, I think its ALL EGO, in Putin. I wish he could think outside the (soviet) box, and understand the benefits of free political discussion and fair elections, and cooperatively joining the west, then becoming a WORLD CLASS hero, leading to improved prosperity in Russia itself. But Tsars dont care about the serfs, or global civility, and maximum gain for the Russian people, its all about centralized control and world domination. I wish it was otherwise.

Lets be friends and allies, BEAR HUG???

President Bush,

Recent headlines say you are working on the finacial melt down occurring. GOOD LUCK!!, seriously. But, I would like to know, if the US has any gold, left. GATA got stiff on a FOIA request for an audit. The Government has its lips sealed for some unkown reason. Perhaps you can give us all a clue? As an American Citizen, on behalf of all Americans, I hereby demand that you forthwith determine the US ACTUAL PHYSICAL GOLD HOLDINGS, (dont count any paper gold, and that is just toilet paper in the world of naked short sells). With all due respects, of course.

This day, the Charleston Voice said:

http://news.goldseek.com/CharlestonVoice/1221717930.php

"It is beyond tolerance to listen to our leaders whether they be financial, corporate, or the worst of all - congressional liars. They zap my energy, stress me out in bewilderment how so many people in so many leadership positions can be so crooked and mealy-mouthed. The latest is Pelosi's call for an "investigation" into our financial quagmire. Nancy, you and your party have been the majority in congress long enough to launch any look-sees ages ago. Puleez, don't pretend your committee chairmen like Barney Frank and Senator Chris Dodd don't have any culpability. Nancy: they are the OVERSIGHT! It's been their job right along to safeguard the people. Just go away.

Simmering for a very long time has been my reluctance to even think my government would be dishonest about something as vital as our national treasure upon which rests our honor, and the trust of the world. As an ex-Coast Guard storekeeper I knew full well that when a new commanding officer came aboard, he'd want inventories. For me it was easy, ships stores, commissary, dry goods, stuff like that. But from Operations and Engineering he'd want to know the exact numbers of the high value electronic items used in navigation, fire control, communications. As the new CO he was now accountable for any absent items. His career depended on it. The system worked. This service experience and other life work experiences have had me bamboozled why other elements and people whom I am taxed to pay salaries don't reciprocate with the same accountability.  Consequently, I have now concluded our country's treasury no longer has any gold reserves. The gold our ancestors entrusted to government for safeguarding is gone. And been gone for quite awhile. Yes, we're given paper "audits" all neatly officially bundled for our consumption. But, no commanding officer has ever demanded a physical inventory. Why not, isn't the President captain of his own ship? Congress has been rebuffed on numerous occasions when requesting a physical audit. The Treasury balance sheet lists something like 261 million ounces. Oh yeah? Show us. Let others accept the "trust me" argument, but as for me that's a worn out response. Even worse, this gold has been jettisoned off by lease, swaps, or loaned.

In all of the instances our gold will never be returned. It's gone, and the American people are the poorer, and must rebuild their lives and their country from scratch. The bankers have moved on to more fertile ground for they are international bankers with allegiance to no sovereign. For a patriotic, moral, and gracious people I can think of no greater lie ever being told."

So, do tell the American Folks, Mr President, and go take a look see at Fort Knott, and determine for your self if gold finger bankster have finally stole the nation's treasure. Cox at the SEC has turned a blind eye to bullion market naked short manipulation, which should be a CRIME. Franks, Dodd and Democratic congress has failed the American people, with their oversight role, which should be a CRIME.  And, now Ft Knotts is purported empty, without any oversight, which should be a CRIME, and so, will you as well DO NOTHING? Please report the country's gold holdings to the American people. Its our gold, not the government's gold, and we have the right to know. Curious Patriotic Minds would like to know.

Most Respectfully,
Derrick Michael Reid

"It is notable that hard-core goldbugs have been proven correct in the decade-long contention that an overwhelmingly vast and complex pool of nested financial derivatives would ultimately result in cascading defaults and ruin for major portions of the banking system" declared Citigroup analysts John H. Hill and Graham Wark. "Frankly, we're surprised, that gold is not already at $2,000 an ounce,"

"proven correct" hhhmmmmm
Thanks John and Graham!

====================================
Bill OReilly,

I loved watching over the past few days, you have been slamming the political leaders (COX) and banksters (Bernakie and Pauslson) and congress (Dodd Franks) for not telling the news and folks about the situation. Well Bill, do tell me, would it have done any good. You are just as bad as the politicians, you looked the other way until a train runs you over. I tried last year to give you a heads up, about the Fed intervention into the bullion markets, to suppress gold to make the dollar look good. In the mean time, share prices of the miners have been in the toilet, government manipulation and SEC turning a blind eye, as destroyed the miners. We gold bugs have been preaching OTC quadrillion derivative problems for years and the manipulation in the markets, yet you DID NOTHING to WARN the folks.

Bill, as one of the folks, you get F grade for your duplicity, dis ingenuousness, and blind eyed reporting. Now do the honorable thing, fall on your sword, and admit YOU FAILED the folks, on the FACTOR!! Do the right thing, and come clean. SEC, FED, TRES are finally doing it, your turn.

John Browne, a former member of the British Government, has been a constant guest recently on Larry Kudlow’s CNBC program. Yesterday, late afternoon: Gold price suppression briefly breaks into Kudlow show on CNBC 1:07a ET Tuesday, September 25, 2007 Dear Friend of GATA and Gold: Larry Kudlow's program of market commentary on CNBC briefly got out of control Monday afternoon when one of the panelists, John Browne, editor of MoneyNews.com, uttered a few words about a forbidden subject. Kudlow had just observed that the gold price has failed to register inflation for about 10 years, whereupon Browne interjected that gold is "heavily distorted on the down side by government intervention." A free-market price for gold, Browne added with some agitation, would be between $1,000 and $2,000 per ounce. Kudlow pointedly declined to pursue Browne's point, and just as GATA Chairman Bill Murphy was never invited back on CNBC after complaining of gold market manipulation there in 1999, Browne now may be lucky if his next television appearance is on some local cable-access channel in Topeka. At this hour CNBC has not yet thought to remove this section of Kudlow's Monday program from its Internet archive, and you still may be able to find it here: http://www.cnbc.com/id/15840232?video=529347622&play=1# The program segment at that link is 10 minutes long and Browne's interjection begins at the 7-minute mark and last about 25 seconds. Enjoy it while you can. GATA thanks and congratulates Browne for cracking a national audience in the United States on gold's behalf. We'll miss him.

I am watching your Goldilocks versus Recession debate of sorts. Yesterday John Browne said the gold market has been manipulated and if it were not, the price would be between $1,000 and $2,000 per ounce. I am Chairman of the Gold Anti-Trust Action Committee. We have alleged gold price manipulation since February of 1999 when I was on CNBC (Ron Insana). How about a debate with Mr. Browne and I on one side and two who disagree with us on the other? DMR, thanks for the link to your blog, which I'm reading now.  While your hard right conservative views make for challenging reading at times, as I'm a centre-right (weak kneed?) conservative from nuclear-free and peace-loving New Zealand.    Despite our different political perspectives, we both share a deep conviction and passion for free markets, real/honest money, and GATA/LMC.  Your passion and intellect are obvious in your prolific blogging.  And, you've stood up to be counted for what you believe, when it really mattered.

DMR, re: your Totalitarian Democracy blog.  Thanks for sharing.  Yes sir, sadly, we're now reaping (big brother/nanny state collectivism) what we've sown (with our ignorance and apathy). Oink, Oink, Oink!

Kisses,

Goldkiwi, thanks much for the compliment regarding my epic post in off topic comprehensively explaining our world in relation to gold and America's Totalitarian Democracy. My epic post was translated into 80 posts in a blog entitled "Totalitarian Democracy" posted in the top conversative blog in the country, townhall.com. Now get this straight, my little blog, over the last two weeks, has been, ARE YOU READY FOR THIS, The NUMBER 1 blog in Southern California, and the NUMBER 4 blog nationally, in conversative circles. People are ready my stuff, BIG TIME, like millions now, as I move up in the national ranking. Last night I moved from No.5 to No.4.

http://townhall.com/youropinion/

I have been No.1 in So-Cal for some time.

I have done more for GATA exposure, being true to my conservative roots, than all of you cafe lefties put together. Over these past few years, I have sent world leaders my suggestions, as documented in that epic post, and sometimes within days, IF NOT HOURS, leaders have adopted my suggestions. There are just to many occurences to be mere coincidences, in my view. Here is the lastest two examples.

Example, three weeks ago, I wrote "THE NEW WORLD ORDER", in the above blog, and there I, and only I, proclaimed that Putin, Hu, EU, ECB would eventually lead to a global currency based upon a return to real money, and SURE ENOUGH, Putin who gets my memos, two weeks later, after the Chinese called for a basket of currency through the IMF, NOW SAY, GOLD should be added to that basket, as I taught him, the only way the US fiat reserve currency status would be threatened is by a global UN treaty abolishing fiat money, with a return to gold and silver, to prevent global unfair competition. They all come my way, eventually, for the many reasons stated therein

Example, after my 3/13/09 blog barage, BHO flies into my turf, 10 miles from my home, to counter the cafe derelict.

Mere coincidence? You make the call. And now I reflect upon the way I was treated here in the cafe in late 2005 through 06. The dog pile of a right winger was intense and demeaning, as some of the old timers in the cafe know very well. The cafe is now more balanced, which is a good thing. I have been vindicated by national blog polls as not being so crazy after all. I of course deserve an apology from the intolerant left-leaning gold bugs here in the cafe, which of course, I will not get. But that is of no import to me, as all I needed in a way of a justly deserved apology, was, GOLDKIWI being my pal. Kisses.

Derrick
